Hey there. I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma. It currently has a body lift on it as I just found out. The last owner must have done that. Anyways, the truck has 31 in tires on it, so with the body kit on it, it is clearing the tires; BUT the truck is extremely stiff! Also, I'm guessing that with the body kit, when driving down the highway, the wind can push me side to side and it is very scary. So, my question is what is the best option, to soften my suspension? Take off the body lift kit? New Suspension? Change the 31-inch tires to smaller tires??

If it is easier, I can attach pictures. Feel free to ask.

Yes. I am a 5 lug. Does removing the body kit require professional work? I am trying to do everything myself.

    Thank you

What body kit? Or are you still referring to the body lift?

Not familiar with the 5 lug but if it's similar to the 6 lug then it shouldn't be very hard to remove

How big is the lift, can you see the spacers on the body mounts?

Okay. So removing the body lift, would make the ride softer? I'm gonna attach some images of my body lift. 20190425_145554.jpg 20190425_145547_HDR.jpg

Okay. What if I do not remove the body kit and just go smaller tires? Will that do anything?

Curious if the front still has any bushings or if it's just blocks like on the bed there. The front has bushings stock which helps absorb some of that stiffness

Not really, lowering air pressure would be the way to soften the tires a bit

    Get that junk off there!

In the mean time, please send pics of the front suspension setup so we may try to help. I can only assume that your suspension is all topped-out and there is no more up-travel available, thus making a stiff ride.
This is all speculation though. Send pics!

Yeah body lifts go all the way around, and there's no bushings in the front so definitely adding stiffness that way, and yes ^ add some pics of the front suspension

With a body lift like that, something tells me it's still on factory suspension
