    So, actual review.

Once upon a time in the early 2000s, I had the doggie window option on the old generation of the softopper:
    20200331_195749.jpg

I loved it but it leaked like a sieve. The convenience was worth it though, to someone who was young, dumb, and didnt care about getting his cheap camp shit wet. :rain:

Enter the new version, which I've had in one rainstorm thus far:
    20200329_133102.jpg

Pro- much more waterproof than the old version. Unlike the old version the new window cover fastens on the outside, between the shell and the cab. It is also twice as wide as the hole you cut, providing significant overlap which keeps water out. Much better design than the original, which was rightly discontinued many years ago.

Con: the between shell/cab location makes it damn inconvenient to roll up and down. This is going to take some practice to master.20200331_200745.jpg

Also, the provided buckle straps can tap against your back glass if you don't secure them properly. This is where I miss the old version. It used to simply remove and reattach with Velcro, without having to adjust the whole front panel or pinching your hands trying to tuck it down in front of the bed.20200331_200807.jpg

Verdict: despite the weird placement it's a solid design. No water intrusion, and gets the airflow that I used to love on the original softopper. Despite the extra time it takes to roll up and adjust, I'm happy with it. It adds to the cool factor. A+, no ragrets.

After a bunch of hand wringing over which color to get for my white Taco I pulled the trigger and ordered one today. Now to decide between a bed rack or a roof rack for my RTT and awning.

@E.J. Nice! If you're looking into a bed rack I know @SOS CONCEPTS has a couple of options. @Cav_BluTRD has the Shortbed aluminum squared out modular version, and @Unchained 5150 has the LB Tube style version. Hit Up Skip @ovrlndkull is you have any questions.

I had the awkward looking US Rack that they used to pimp on Softoppers website on my last truck, hoping for something better looking this round. I wonder if a 72" long tent is too much to put on one of the typical cab racks for a 3rd gen?

I really dug the one Warfab Armor was making, but they discontinued them over lack of interest. The Mobtown one looks awesome but $$, I know quality isn't cheap though.

Been looking for one on CL for literally a year for my 01 double cab. Ugh, even with this deal they are so pricey. Decisions! Someone convince me.

$720 shipped is still kinda crazy lol

I found a 3rd gen one somewhat local for a good deal, but can't confirm if it'll fit my truck. waiting to hear from softopper.
