I'm leaning toward a Softopper for an occasional bed cover. I don't need a hard shell for much, plus I don't want to deal with the weight of it. I'm wondering if any of you soft top owners have been using yours for camping under instead of using a tent? Thoughts? Comments? Anyone.

I've been researching this for a while now for the same reasons as you and have been on the fence, but I think I'm going with a hard topper.

I had one with the same intention but it kinda sucked for camping. got a sportz bed tent to supplement it. Super easy to pop the topper off and throw up the tent. Sold the truck and looking to unload the tent if you're interested.

    Well I was just leaning. . .
This morning I was surprised to see a used Snugtop shell, color matching my truck, on the local Craigslist. This afternoon I'm the owner of the shell at the cost of a softtop. Couldn't pass it up so I'll see how it suits me for awhile.

Awesome, Bro - Congrats! Post pix when you get a chance. You'll also have to let me know how it goes camping with it....

Was homeless for 3 months in mine. Waterproof and kept me warm enough with a sleeping bag. I'm happy with it.
