Not sure why you guys are having issues contacting them? I have been In contact with them getting replacement parts for mine. I called the number they have listed on the website. Probably called a total of 5 times over a two week period for different questions and got in contact all but once.

I emailed them a week ago and have not received a response from them. I guess they just don't like me or my questions.

They are very responsive to warranty/service requests. I have reached out twice and gotten responses within minutes.

My guess is they are not interested in the group buy.

I emailed them just asking questions about their product and received no response. I never even mentioned a group buy. I feel like it's a pretty decent chunk of change that they want me to spend and that I have the right to ask questions about the product beforehand.

So I messaged @TakeNoteS yesterday regarding this but he hasn't been online since Saturday.

I called Softopper yesterday with product questions and received a call back within an hour or so. I spoke with the owner who was helpful and even sent me specific pictures showing fit and finish and changes from previous models. I didn't however get the feeling that bringing up the group buy would have been productive or helpful (to be honest I felt bad trying to bait and switch the conversation and I didn't have a good opportunity either, without going into specifics). I did ask if they had any third party vendors and he confirmed what someone above said - they pulled that back a few years ago and they don't do third party (no one actually stocked the product when they did; they would order online like anyone else and markup as needed). They do offer free shipping to military and gov't; he said to just contact him after placing the order (shipping isn't much to phone home about to be honest here).

Unless TakeNoteS has gotten communication confirming or shooting down the group buy, I'm thinking Softopper is out. It would be easy for them to say so and for everyone to move on, but for whatever reason that communication hasn't occurred to my knowledge. Screening emails or calls based on the group buy isn't a great way to handle things - that said I firmly believe they offer the better product. This isn't my group buy to manage but I'm politely asking @TakeNoteS to make a call on everyone's behalf.

Guys, hold off for now on contacting Softopper concerning the group buy. I was able to get in touch with them yesterday and we had a very good conversation in which they expressed a number of concerns. I am working to address those concerns and hopefully we can move forward with this group buy however I will advise once Softopper has reached a decision. If approved, I will provide all of the details.

While initially I had some reservations based on the lack of communication from this company, I feel much better after having talked with Bob. It sounds like they may have been quite a bit behind with him being gone on vacation. Even if the group buy doesn't happen, I would have no problem purchasing from these guys.

I placed my order on Friday, and it's arriving at my house today, the following Wednesday. 5 days from order to doorstep is lightning fast in my opinion. It shipped the same day I placed my order. If the group buy goes though I don't know that I would expect that kind of time frame though.

I can confirm that the second gen Softopper now comes with the rear bar to keep the flap down in the back. Install wasn't terribly difficult, haven't driven around any yet to see if it's flappy or not, but so far I'm happy with it.

Along the top of your unit it looks like some sort of clip or tie down point. Can you tell me what they are and their use. Again thanks for the info.

I believe those are to used to hold the side walls when they're rolled up.

Those are plastic buckle clips that are used to hold up the sides when you roll them up.
