So I installed the topper noticed that the bar itself is not completely flush at the connector junction . And at the ends it’s angling itself towards the inside of the truck causing the seal to push . I loosened everything checked my measurements and still did the same thing . I’m thinking it’s a design flaw with bar not being one piece . It doesn’t move or anything it does it on both sides . I contacted soft topper for further advice but have yet to hear from them . Maybe defective bars ? Anyone with any suggestions greatly appreciated 67D8F1F5-6CD8-423B-8632-25A7FEDF03A8.jpg 846A8B97-D558-4978-80CB-E02759A704E9.jpg

You might have just added this to your existing thread?

In general, I don't see that as an issue. What I do see that you may have the clamps cranked down too much? The foam does not need to be compressed fully for everything to be secure.

Take a look at the second over-exposed pic and the one showing the misaligned joint:

I was thinking the same thing I loosened Them both .still no change . I can understand this if I had this only on one side but to have it on both that makes no sense .

Nah. All TW threads are OT / BS by default. It's how we do. The thing is that you had a crowd already collected there for advice.

Yes. There is a lot of play in the joint. Just how it is an not a big deal. Twist loads are not significant.

    You're welcome.

My only concern is if the bar can take the stress from the slight angle .everything looks nice and snug on the outside don’t notice any movement .

It takes a while for closed cell foam to decompress. It won't spring back by loosening and re-tightening.

The torsional loads are negligible. Mainly shear loading from the snaps and canvas tension that creates a bending load in the rails. Nothing that would be anywhere near the material limits of the parts.

Now, what can cause a failure is over-tightening and yielding the clamps. Once they yield plastically, the strength is gone.
