That’s a great idea TacoGranny. Thank you for sharing. I originally tried shoving a magnet inside the Velcro seam but my rear panel isn’t low enough to engage enough tailgate metal to stick. Now I have a small seam to sew back up. I will try the fridge magnet strip asap. Thank you again.

I used the snaps on my 2nd Gen and it’s never come loose. I’ve heard some will edge a pool noodle between the cab and bed to hold it in place, but I’ve never felt the need.

I love this idea. To be extra secure, I'm looking at a 48" steel bar to insert in the cab side of the flap. https://www.amazon.com/Unpolished-F...H9M4S0?keywords=4+foot+steel+rod&sr=8-10&th=1 Then a couple strong magnets on the cab side of the bed to hold the front flap in place. I'm surprised softopper doesn't make anything to hold that front flap in place from the outside of the bed. When I get everything i'll post back here with my results in a couple weeks.

The pool noodle is another good idea, spray paint it black to hide it.

Sorry I was late to the party. I mean no offense here, but I feel your probably over thinking this. Trust me, you need neither the weight of a metal bar, or the magnets.

The reason Softopper doesn't tell you this simple trick is they are a business, and they sell a lot of snaps, Velcro. I feel Softopper put that loop inside that front window for a reason though.
