So I installed my Softopper today and noticed something off, not sure if this is normal or what. Why is it sitting on my bed rails like this? Both sides are the same so its sitting square on the bed, on the inside everything is even.

Another thing I noticed when I was in the bed is I can see alot of sunlight coming through the stitching, not really the seam but where the thread goes through the material. Is this normal? I know you get the seam sealer but this seems a bit excessive

Mine is like that. I don't think it's a big deal. I think they build them imperfectly so the same version can fit on different manufacturer beds.

As for the stitching, mine is the same. I never took the time to seam seal mine and I still think it's as water tight as a rigid cap.

Mine sits the same also. No seam seal done here either and my vehicle is garage kept but have not had any water inside the topper after driving in the rain.
