Took my softopper off recently and noticed my mpg went up 3mpg ? Do the toppers get this much drag ? . I had it installed pretty close to the cab . Just was really surprised I was getting that much drag with the softopper lol .

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
You have to look at several calculations of MPG before coming to a conclusion like that.

Unless you have access to the lockheed wind tunnel laboratory, you wouldn't be able to conclude with statistical confidence any changes in drag unless you had a minimum 1000 miles' worth of data gathering both before and after.

    Way too many outside variables.

I get trash MPG with my bestop soft topper on, I used to leave it on all year, but now I take all the way off for summers.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
I get 21.5 mpg on a 2021 AC MT with a soft topper confirmed over two 7000 mile cross country jaunts.
As well as 35K "general usage miles" . Mileage is better in summer, but I drive the Taco much less/

If I could get an additional 3 mpg by removing the Softopper, I would be giddy.

So far, I have heard of few Taco owners that even get 21.5 mpg average.
