Thanks guys. I am loving the softopper so far it is by far my favorite mod. It doesnt offer a whole lot of protection but does offer some. I feel more comfortable leaving stuff back there as opposed to just the open bed. If thieves want something there gonna get it whether you have a hard or softop. If your worried about stuff getting stolen a hard top may be better for you but if not the softopper is so versatile and lightweight it makes it a better choice for DD duties IMO. Oh yeah and I think it just looks bad ass lol

Yeah these things are amazing. Had mine since July and it's been thru rain like you wouldn't believe with me staying bone dry while camping. (my friends tents soaked thru but not the softtopper) Came outside in October to a surprise snow fall of about a foot maybe foot and a half. Still it was fine. No snow got in. I'm deffenitly satisfied with the construction and versatility. Plus you can't beat the look of these things compared to a hard top. 03fed662_c055f99a51e17f3a494d5b597a5d813ea739f9f9.jpg

So what exactly is the purpose of a soft shell camper? Is it just to keep stuff dry without the hefty price of a hard one?

It is cheaper than a hard shell, but it also folds forward out of the way or comes off very quickly for large cargo. The sides and back can be rolled up if you just want some shade.
