If your thinking about a softopper, then jump on it, love mine. Good money spent.

For me, I didn't want windows like on the original Bestop. The solid panels of the new Bestop 2 are better, but I got a lot of recommendations for the Softtopper.

I dont have any experience with the softopper, but I just got a new bestop 2. Ive only had it for a little while and from what I can see from the design of the softopper vs bestop is that the softopper is easier to put up and down, but at the cost of looks, bestop is harder to put up and down, but looks much cleaner with no snaps or exposed zippers. And when you go safari mode (sides and rear window up) the bestop is much better looking (IMO).

I got my bestop for $719.00 shipped from their website.

I'm torn on which of these to go with. I was going to do a hard shell then I found these, now I can't decide between the two. Question for anyone that has either of them, do you leave it on all the time or only when you go camping? Does it affect drivability at highway speeds or get noisy (flap in the wind)?

Softopper. Left on all the time, year-round. Zero noise/flapping at highway speeds.

Can't speak to both, but having a bestop supertop, I think I should have picked up a softopper instead.

Softopper has a cleaner look overall in terms of shape as well as a better structurally designed frame system from what I can tell. The bestop does not look have as clean lines and sticks a bit above the cab, causing a bit more drag and oscillations in strong headwinds. It also cannot be opened from the inside which is terrible design. However, the bestop supertop closes without requiring a velcro strip on the tailgate.

edit: bestop supertop 2 may be a good improvement from the original supertop

Now I have to decide on color. I have a silver regular cab with 6ft bed and black trim/wheels. I'm torn between tan and black.

Tan would look good. I wanted that but black looked the best with red to me.

No problem! I've had it for around 4yrs, always parked outside and never treated with protectant.
The only real 'wear' is the back poly window loosing it's clarity due to my cleaning negligence, and the small plastic snap buckles near the top edge fading due to UV exposure.
