Trudging through the OV tune. Support takes days to answer each question which is a little frustrating. Right now when I get to "Identify" I get "ToyFlash has stopped working"...

It is a two person operation with Mat supporting all Toyotas tunes, plus he's expecting. So, that is not really out of line?

That might be you antivirus software? Have you excluded the Toyota Flash folder?

    Do you have

Ha yeah I thought it might be that. I'm glad to know that so I can relax.

I have turned off my anti-virus software. That's how I got this far actually. Do I still need to exclude Toyota Flash folder. Anyway I'll take a look. Thanks!

OK I've excluded Toyota. Going to give it another try.

If you have AV turn off, excluding the folder won't get you any further.

It will allow you to not have to worry about turning it off in the future though.

So, but I have no other ideas to help you.

Yeah that didn't work. Okay I'll wait for Mat. Thanks again.

So looking at threads related to "ToyFlash has stopped working" I see stuff about downloading the Tatrix drivers. I assumed that happened when I downloaded the Flash Folder but maybe not? If not how does one go about downloading the drivers?

I have two versions of Flashing instructions. V.1 has instructions for flashing a file all the way through. V4.2 has me sending my output info to OVTune and getting the flash files from them. Can I use either instruction? Why the change? The new version seems less technically challenging so maybe they've been experiencing problems with operator error and tying to dumb it down (greatly appreciated by this dummy). Will it hurt to try the V.1 instructions?

FWIW I followed the V.1 instructions and successfully flashed the truck. It's running much better! Thanks everyone.

That is the older version for folks with dongles for security, not the REG files.

Interesting that the V.1 instructions worked but only would let me download 1.05 version at 87 octane and base tune. All other configurations would not download. I flashed that version and it has made a big improvement it the surging/stuttering problem I was having. I let Matt know and I expect he will send me the other tuning options. For now I am thrilled that it seems to have made the truck run in an acceptable manner.

You should be able to download Base and FOB for all octanes available.

Performance, GL, and 1.05.1 are AT only. 2.0 is not out yet.

Thanks tonered. Great information. I'm getting better at using this forum and found a thread that addresses all the questions I have about the different tunes. I'll try them all! Still getting a little bump here and there but 80% better and an extra mile per gallon (18mpg with fiberglass shell, pull-out tray and lumber rack). My rhetorical question is, why on gods green earth is Toyota not addressing this? It baffles the mind.

You're welcome. Enjoy the new setup.

They probably think they corrected it with the TSB. Give them some more time to do more.

Apologies if this is a stupid question...is the cable that comes with OV Tune a Tactrix cable (or equivalent)? I'm looking upgrade my ECU to and was a little unclear if I need to get a new cable.

It is a Tactrix cable, but OVT says that it is changed a bit for OVT. It will work just fine to load the TSB tune.

    You're welcome!

Just in case, you can also do all the dealer customizations within TS also (number of blinks for the one touch signals, turn off seat belt chimes, etc.).
