Question for anyone who has installed these Sokietech struts:

    1. Do you notice any play side to side as you’re closing the hood?

    2. If you stand in the side of your hood and look inline to where the side ball mounts are, do yours have a noticeable slant towards the front of the truck? Like too much force is being put onto the ball mount?

    1=no
2=Yes, not too much though, it would be much better if the stud could be reinforced from the back somehow with a nut and washer like the front. I bet it tweaks a lot forward when shut.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing about reinforcement. I forgot the look, but I think that section is solid so it would be impossible to get to.

How long have you had yours installed? Trying to see if anyone starts to have problems as time goes on.

Maybe a month or so. Not a lot of open and shut however. I don't see anything really bad happening but it does deflect a bit.

Gotcha. Yeah, I’m not under the hood all that often either. I checked and it looks like you technically could put a fender washer and nut on the backside; just difficult to reach. I’ll probably get out there tomorrow and see what I can come up with. I’d rather go ahead and try to reinforce it now versus waiting until the off chance something does happen.

Yah, getting behind that inner panel will be the trick, if you do, post up how you did it.

Will do. If you take the black plastic piece off (looks to just be a few push pins) it’s hollow on the backside. Just gotta figure out a way to fit my fat hand back there. Haha.

I’ll definitely follow up if I find a way to get something back there.

    Thanks again for the info!

I’ve had mine installed a few months now. I open the hood weekly to change out the rechargeable batteries in my electronic rodent repellants. No problems so far.

Hi - new to signup but I’ve been reading the forums since I bought my truck in December. I installed these about a month ago and while I like how they work, I am concerned about the lower mounts. The driver side is worse then the passenger. Here’s some pictures on mine. I hope they hold up. They definitely push the lower mounts forward, but I hope they find their happy spot and just stay like that. We'll see. I dont have any play side to side.

So I bought a set of these for my 14
They didn't work for a 2nd gen and after contacting Sokietech they refunded my money
I have the set just sitting around
I not sure they are for a 3rd gen, the package has #D2f6 on it
The only thing I did was bend the large brackets to make them work but they still hit cowl ( which can be bent back).
If interested I just want shipping, prob $10
Don't want to screw anybody if they don't fit

I just looked at mine which have been installed for nearly a year now. I moved the the hood up and down slowly and didn't see any movement.
If someone has them moving slightly I would check to see if they are fastened tightly.
