Selling my 2012 Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab 2.7L 4x4 manual.

98,500 miles and going, as it’s my daily driver. I'm in the Virginia Beach area. Below is a list of all recent work and maintenance done recently.
    • 80K - complete driveline fluid flush and refill. Redline MT90 transmission fluid, and Mobil1 75W-90 in the transfer case and differentials.
    • 95k - new brake pads, rotors, calipers.
    • 95k - new front wheel bearings and hubs on both sides.
    • 95k - new passenger side CV axle. (original axle was fine, but I nicked threads when replacing hub)
    • 95K - new serpentine belt and platinum NGK spark plugs
    • 98K - new suspension all the way around. The front end has Headstrong 2-inch coils with Bilstein 5100 shocks set at the lowest position. Freedom Off-road Upper control arms and new to me, but used TRD lower control arms with all new OEM bushings, OEM cam adjust bolts with brand-new MOOG grease-able lower ball joints.
    • 98K - New Old Man Emu Dakar medium duty leaf springs, with poly bushings paired with Bilstein B110 extended length shocks. (disclaimer: OME leaf springs are known to be squeaky. It doesn’t bother me, but just an FYI they are creaky even with anly 300 miles on them)
    • Alignment done after suspension installation.
    • 98K fresh fully synthetic oil change (has been religiously changed every 5K)
    • 98K - ditched the factory steel wheels and put 2nd gen alloys on. The steelies were starting to flake and rust.
    • All work done by me. Everything torqued, checked and rechecked to factory/and or part specific settings.
    • 4x4 works flawlessly, exactly as it should. No driveline vibrations or shimmies. I put a 3 degree spacer in when I did the leaf springs.

You won’t find a nicer, better kept up regular cab Tacoma around. The truck is from Vermont, so there is some surface rust underneath, but the frame is totally solid. It was kept in a garage during it's northern life, so kept the rust at bay. The worst was the suspension, which was why I replaced every bit of it.

I am meticulous with maintenance, and the truck has been babied. I do carry my dog in the truck with me as a disclaimer, however the interior is in very good shape, albeit some beach sand and dog hair at the moment (which will be cleaned before sale). No cracks, scratches, tears or dents. I have the original shifter knob as well.

It comes with the camper shell, which is made for a regular cab (not an access cab shell on a regular cab truck) and are getting extremely hard to find.

As much as I love my little Taco, my life situation is changing, and I don't know if I'll be able to use it as I was planning. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Overall, I put about $1500 or so in parts into it, and it rides better than it did when I bought it with 42K on the odometer. This is TW, so I'm sure there will be lots of questions. Please feel free to reach out, and I'll answer whatever I can.

Test drives will be on a case by case basis. I will be more than happy to take you for a ride if you appear to be a serious buyer and will let you drive with myself in the truck. I only do this, because in the past, the few times I’ve sold a vehicle, I have had people be absolute a**holes and beat the crap out of my vehicle on the test drive. That’s not a chance I will take again. Don’t take it personally, please.

    looking for $14,000.

Are we allowed to comment on prices in a kicking around selling thread?

Comment away. You’re not going to hurt my feelings, I promise. And it’s more than kicking around. Maybe those were the wrong words to use and have since been edited out. I’m not looking to bust any TW rules. As long as I get the right price, I’ll sell. I’m buying the fiancé a Jeep. She has an ‘06 4 runner with 101k on it that needs some work, and she hates it. So I’m selling my Taco, getting her a Jeep, then taking her 4Runner and giving it the same treatment I just gave my Taco. All new suspension, wheel bearings, cv axles, upper and lower control arms and a full brake job. It’s cheaper to do it all myself, and it’s a perfectly good 4Runner. The problem is she lives in Dallas, TX currently. So I would buy a Jeep here, drive it out to her, and drive the 4Runner back here to do the work, and make it my personal rig. TMI? Maybe...but that’s the story.

Very cool truck. For a hunting rig/bush truck the 2.7 4x4 5MT regular cab is ideal. Short wheelbase, light weight, simple. And very hard to find these days.

If you were in Canada I would buy it.

I will miss that short wheelbase. The thing turns tighter than a civic.

I looked for one forever before getting my AC off road. I had visions of tall skinny 34’s, high clearance rear bumper, lunchbox rear locker, and aluminum front winch bumper with sliders.

Yeah man, me too. Freakin’ life and the curveballs though... good thing is, I’ll still be getting a 4Runner out of the deal! It’ll just take some sweat equity to bring her up to speed.

May I please ask whether you sold it, or if you decided not to sell?

Someone from out of state gave me a non refundable deposit to take it off TW. The buyer is supposed to be here Sunday morning, and didn’t even blink at the price. If they’re a no show, than it will go back up here.

If only this was on the west coast.

I’m located in Central California and in the market for a regular cab.

It did not. The buyer had to back out at the last minute. It’s been a crazy week, so haven’t been keeping on top of this thread. It’s still for sale.

Bump. I have one potential interested buyer, but nothing firmed up yet, so she’s still on the market.
