    New tires are on.

But. Noticed something peculiar when I was taking the rear driver side tire off. No bump stop. :bored: Apparently the allen bolt that goes through the bump to the bracket had sheared off at some point (possibly at my last Peter's Mill trip) and was gone to the wind. So I decided to take the passenger side bump off as well to put some new hardware on since I was going to need to do the driver side as well. Well, as soon as I started messing with it, the rusted out bolt on this bump stop sheared as well.

With that, just ordered some Energy Suspension 3" bumps for $25, versus the $50+ I'd be spending to get more SuperBumps. I'll just be putting this on top of the Wheeler's brackets after I repaint them, since the "powdercoat" is also flaking and crumbling off. And be using some stainless steel hardware this time...

I'll be putting up pictures of the new tires tomorrow but there's not much to look at, they're the same as the old ones :)

    New tars

    Need to:
    • Check lug nuts
    • Paint bump stop brackets
    • Pick up nuts/washers for bump stop bolt
    • Install new bump stops once they arrive
    • Recheck tire psi
    • Wash/clay/wax truck
Also ordered some 12V cigarette lighter sockets to install on the rear of the center console so I have extra power back there. Will probably get a rear dash cam and use one of the sockets for that.

Ha. I just ordered a second dash cam for the rear on Friday. Should be here today. I ran an extension from the front along the floorboard to the back. Maybe one day I will make it look a little better. For now it doesnt look too bad.
Who mounted the tires? I always ask them to hand tighten the lugs and not to beat the crap out of them with the impact wrench. I'm sure they just use the impact though. I do my own rotations so I know those are done by hand at least.

My mechanic friend at the firehouse. We used the air impact but didn't slam them too much. I'm gonna recheck them later tomorrow.

The same friend will help me with installing the rear 12v's, I'll post pictures when we do it.

I have seen where people add a 110V outlet to the center console as well as the 12V. You should tap into the inverter since you'll have the console out anyway and kill two birds with one stone.

Learned that the Baja Designs lights that Pelfrey sells now do fit in my bumper and also come in Amber so I'll probably get those instead of the Rigid's unless there is a significant cost difference or I see bad reviews or something. Couple months if I do get them though.

    Definitely not if they're $800. I think they're like $240 a pair

Crappy night picture of new 12V's in the rear console area. Install went off without a hitch and I think it looks really clean.

I'll get a better picture soon.

How much work does it take to clay? I just ordered an orbital polisher, I assume I need to wash with dawn to remove all old wax, and clay before I polish and seal. The paint is very bumpy and I know it should be smooth.

Claying doesn't take much work, just have to re-knead the clay after every panel/door to get to a clean side. I did wash/clay/wax with the wheels/tires in less than 3 hours, and I wasn't working the whole time.

I do all the work by hand though so it takes a little longer. When you clay, be sure to be generous with the spray. The clay should glide across the paint without much effort.

Thanks Matt. I'll be trying this out hopefully soon. Never done clay before, so I didn't know what to expect.
