Ordered Shoei RF-1200 Beacon in yellow hi-viz with a chrome mirror shield as an early Christmas present from my parents. :)

Although my HJC helmet isn't terrible, the wind noise is pretty bad and the fit can get uncomfortable after a 1-2 hour ride, or 3 hour day, even if rides are broken up with rests. All the reviews say the Shoei is very quiet, and the hi-viz style fits in with my current and future gear plans. I also had a chance to try on a RF-1200 a couple months ago at my local bike shop so I already know it will fit well.

I was also planning on buying Dainese Torque RS boots to better protect my ankles and shins, but they were out of stock so I'll order them whenever they come back.

Also checked tire pressure, cleaned and lubed chain, and filled the tank up in preparation for a ride tomorrow to go to one of my physical abilities test for police department applications.

New Shoei is so much more comfortable and quiet!

It may just be me imagining it, but I think the hi-viz has already paid off. Had two people going to merge into my lane directly in front of me and they both jerked back after a second when they saw me.

You have me thinking about running a street helmet next year. To much damn wind noise in my dualsport helmet.

And its down right brutal in this cold weather with no chin skirt

I got a Schampa balaclava a couple weeks ago since everything else on my body is not cold down to 35*, but my face would completely freeze. The balaclava is excellent, the only gripe I have is that the bottom portion is not quite long enough, so the edge of it sometimes comes out of my jacket neckline but I just tuck it back in whenever it happens.

My HJC did not have a chin curtain, the Shoei does. I've been wearing the balaclava every time I ride now that the weather hasn't gotten above 50* lately, so I may have to wait a while to see if the Shoei chin curtain does anything. I assume it does help a decent amount.

The Shoei is significantly quieter than the HJC...lately I've been worrying about hearing loss as I grow older even if it seems lame. I'm around idling firetrucks and sirens all the time, and my future includes shooting firearms more and being around more sirens, so hearing loss is definitely something I've been thinking about.

If you take your hand and put the back of it against the bottom of your helmet as a make shift chin scurt, you'll be able to definitively see how beneficial they are.

I tried to do that with the HJC, but the knuckle protectors on my gloves didn't allow my hand to fully cover the space at the bottom of the helmet so it wasn't too effective but you can see how there can be a change.

Also found out the Dainese Torque RS Out boots I was planning on getting are apparently getting discontinued.

Revzilla recommended their next similar boots however, so I think I'll be getting the Dainese TR Course Out boots, which are almost identical I think. Not sure when though.

Need to do an oil change soon. At 10,800 now and was going to do one at 11K anyway, but I've definitely noticed shifting and general feel is getting weird lately. Either that or I'm getting worse at riding :)

Ordered a Drift HD Stealth 2 camera for a helmet cam. I attempted to find a way to mount one of my GoPro's to my new helmet but the only option was mounting it to the top, and having a GoPro sticking out of the top of my head just looks ridiculous. I feel like I have an antenna or something if I do that. The Drift is super small, has a 3 hour life, and also is very low profile.

They usually go for ~$200, but I was able to find one for $99 online with mounts included. I have a couple micro SD's that should work (Class 10 16GB) since I don't believe it comes with a SD card.

Below is a picture of how low profile and small it is. I have a GoPro dash cam in my truck but with all the crazy drivers these days, and how I feel that many people have bias against motorcycle riders if anything were to happen, I really want to have a camera rolling when I ride.

I'm glad I held onto the UClear wired helmet speakers after I found they didn't fit in the HJC. The Shoei has little cutouts where speakers can fit so I was able to make them work.

Excited to be able to listen to music while I ride now!

Mounted Drift camera and completed my first oil change. I'll get pictures of the camera and mount later.
