I did actually watch videos by some company (it might've been that Helmet Center) and knew what to look for in my helmet. It is nice and snug but the HJC model I have fits my round head nicely rather than the other style heads that most helmets run for.

I feel ok with the gear I have now for what I'm doing but I am definitely gonna get some leather (at least a jacket) as soon as I financially can.

I don't know if leather's necessary. I laid a bike down a few years ago while wearing a textile motorcycle jacket and all I had to show for it was a bruised hip and a ruined pair of draggin jeans. Some guy pulled out in front of me halfway around a corner at doing about 45 and I lowsided it. Slid for probably 50-60 feet before I got onto the soft sandy shoulder. The jacket definitely showed some wear, but didn't tear through even the first layer of fabric. The modern textile riding jackets are just as rugged as the leather ones, and they dry out a HELL of a lot faster after you get rained on. (like, a day instead of a week)

But, that being said, I have a leather jacket now. I think they look nicer. :anonymous:

Pretty sure it was thorns or broken glass

I'm ordering Kenda K270s from motorcycle superstore or rockymountain ATV MC

Rebate?! I might have to go for Dunlop d606s

    What I had before:

    What I've got now:

The leather is nice, but it was stiff as hell when I first got it. And then I got rained on last fall and it took nearly all week for it to completely dry (and then it was stiff as hell again)

Agreed :amen:. Once you get to riding with local groups and get comfortable on the bike you'll be wanting a 600 at least to keep up.

Not for nothing, but don't waste money on the red stabil. The marine stabil (dark blue) works better for reducing the impact of ethanol in your fuel.

And you may want to get boots that offer more protection and full length gauntlet gloves.

Here in Az no gear is 'necessary'. We don't even have helmet laws. You want to ride in shorts, flip flops and a tank top knock yourself out.

Leathers are just one more layer of protection. Since you have 0 protection while riding a motorcycle I see no reason why not to gear up with the best gear you have. I've been hit 3 times, never been injured thanks to proper gear.

Lol. I see what you did there.

Around here you have to wear a helmet for the first year you've got your license, and then after that you can do whatever. But, the idea is that you get into the habit of the helmet during your first year, and then you keep wearing it after.

I love the states that just say you need a helmet with you, not on your head. Like, why even make the law then...

I never got the no helmet law. What bugs me is they force me to wear a seatbelt (which I always do and agree with) yet no helmet when I ride.

I like gear, makes me feel tough and I look cool as fuck wearing it.

I had the red Stabil from when I had my Rotopax on the Tacoma, and I was going to use it if I winterized but I don't think I will have to. I should be able to ride it at least every three weeks or so in the winter to keep it going. Battery tender should be all that I need.

I don't care for stabil honestly. I just throw a splash of seafoam in the gas to keep it from separating as fast

I hate not being able to ride much with these damn tires. I'm gonna be riding every goddamn day as soon as I get them on...

I'm past the wear bars in the rear...it's pretty much a race slick in the very center of the tire.

Deleted the front side reflector and replaced with OEM allen bolts and received the Deltran battery tender system.
