*** SOLD***Kenwood Excelon DDX 8905S headunit

I’m listing my Kenwood Excelon headunit ive used for the last year. This headunit has wired Apple CarPlay and android auto. No wireless. It is capable of playing cds and DVD’s. It’s touchscreen 6.95”. It has the 5v pre outs for front rear and sub with 13 band EQ adjustment, time alignment, two camera inputs, 2 USB’s, will play flac and wav files for high resolution audio, Bluetooth capable. Headunit works like it should I just fell for the floating screen Kenwood model and decided to upgrade to it and idatalink maestro rr2. All necessary wiring will come with the headunit bc the wiring from this plugged right into my new unit and I didn’t have to use or cut into any of the harnesses.

idatalink maestroRR will come with the SW Control harnesses that I purchased as extra not knowing I would be able to reuse my harnesses for RR2.

Everything is fully functional and in really good shape. The headunit has from time to time rebooted itself out of the blue but it’s always came right back on. I’d say it does it once a week. It’s a known glitch in firmware on Kenwood units of 2018 feom all I’ve read and researched. PRICE IS $325 shipped to CONUS for both the headunit and the maestro RR. If you don’t want both I will take $250 for the headunit. $85 for the maestro and throw in the Toyota TO2 harness. If you just need a solid headunit that plays your music clean with some capabilities for eq and dsp you won’t find a better deal than this. It’s got some bells and whistles but not the most recent. This really has me thinking. Did you try a firmware upgrade on the unit to fix the reboot issue?

 

Yes and honestly my 3 day old DMX1057XR that I’ve upgraded to did the same thing this morning but turned right back on. Idk what the deal is but every Kenwood I’ve bought has done this from time to time. My amps luckily are remote turned on by the unit so they do exactly what the unit does. They turn off and back on with it

 

How was the video image with the backup camera. I see it has iffy reviews but that could be related to lower end cameras compared to OEM cameras. I have a 2010 so i think the RR would work and fit fine.
Anything you didnt like about the unit?

 

The backup camera I used was oem so it wasn’t the greatest. Nothing I really disliked about the unit but if there is something I wasn’t as impressed with would definitely be the screen which is why I paid 3 times more for the new one. The new unit backup screen isn’t much better and I’m definitely considering getting the cmos 740HD or 320 multi angle cam for it

 

Makes sense, I've been leaning towards the Alpine ILX650 or the new ILX 403 coming out in May but im getting inpatient. This is an option but im worried about the age of the unit since warranty is gone. DECISIONS DECISIONS

 

I can tell you that the Kenwood Excelon models will have better signal for audio than even the highest end alpine or pioneer units. This is a solid unit and reliable for sure but if you’re looking for bells and whistles and high definition screen I’d say look elsewhere tbh

 

Yeah, i agree kenwood has come a long way with the Excelon models compared to years past. Does it have an internal mic or external?

 

External or maybe both.... not sure. I know I mounted one

 

Ok, gonna think on it some more. Tempting just worried about the age.

Been there done that. I was late on 2 amps that CVOL had for sale. Both very nice JL Audio amps that i had just started researching. I often miss out on good deals due to me taking a couple of days to research the product for my needs before buying. I definitely almost missed out on this one after reading and thinking about it for a while. I just happened to search this forum and saw it versus looking at the Audio/Video thread
