Well, I hated to see it go but a local guy bought my 82. I was asking 8500 for it and we agreed on 8000 even. So it was a no brainer. As much as I loved it, I wasn't driving it much anymore and can use the funds towards my tacoma build. So long my little muchacho.

Thanks, man. Yeah, it was in great shape inside and out. He was the first to come and look at it and that was all she wrote... he had to have it. The original paint was getting a little thin these days, so its currently slated for a repaint in tan.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Something tells me you're going to regret doing that for the rest of your life soon. Yours is in better shape than my '79 and it's nearly mint body-wise.

I hear ya there, but no. I was ready to pass it on. And this guy is much younger and has been wanting one for a long time. Besides, 5 four wheel drives is a lot to keep up with. I'm more interested overland wheeling these days vs anything too hardcore that requires the advantage of a solid front axle.

I missed it for about a week (sold it back in Dec) and hardly give it a thought anymore.

Here's the '79 I have, and I've always wanted a real toyota pickup for as long as I can remember. It just kinda came to me. My buddy wound up with it through some horsetrading and didn't want it, so I ended up trading him my '55 Cadillac for it. I got it to run, it just wont pick up fuel from the tank and I traced that back to a bad carburetor with about 20 vacuum leaks and rotted fuel lines that are full of holes. Truck sat for 10 years unused though. When the cold snap breaks, I am going to push it into my shop, yank the tank and fuel lines and start in on the carb, see if it's worth saving or have to replace it. I love how simple and straightforward they are to work on. :)

8000?! Holy crap that's insane, I got mine for 2 but it's ugly as all hell, but now that she's on 37s I don't mind.

Yeah, he was as excited about the camper as he was the Toyota. He was already making big plans for both. Solar panels etc.

They're great little trucks and yes, pretty easy to work on for the most part. I had a factory service manual for my 82 which was really nice.

Yes, I wasn't sure what to ask for it and said so in my add. There is just no real way to price them anymore. So, I just thought of a number it would take to separate me from it.
It took me a couple of years to work up the gumption to let it go, but the price was a factor. I have heard that they go for a bit over on the islands, so I hear ya there. It was a great little truck and I will miss it to a point, but I will enjoy building the Tacoma up a little more.

Thanks man. It was, and it drove great too. His mechanic checked it and the only issues found were a pass front caliber leaking and a tiny oil leak at the very back of the valve cover. I replaced the caliber for him, along with front pads, before he took it over. Didn't want anyone getting hurt. It's going to a good home and a good dude.. so that helps. Plus it's getting new paint and tires etc... along with some other goodies. I want to see it when he's done.
