Well I sold the FJ cruiser and bought a 09 white Tacoma Reg cab this week. I felt like I lost an old friend when I sold my 07 Tacoma some months ago, and replacing it with the cruiser just didnt have the same feeling, if ya know what I mean. I pick it up sometime next week, and the mods begin again, lol!

The FJ was the obvious choice. When you come to a overhead traffic light, you cant see it due to the windshield. The windshield was also a great bug collector due to its design. As far as carrying more than two people, well those back seats are NOT comfortable on long trips.
I didnt want to get rid of the Tundra for several reasons. Its extremely fast with the supercharger. Its got bigger balls than a 3 ton pig, and its a truck! It can also carry 5 people comfortably which sometimes I need to do. The Highlander was sold a few months ago and replaced with a 08 Prius, thanks to the middle eastern towel heads, and the wall st speculators. That is my gf's daily driver. As far as the Corvettes, well you just dont sell them period! So, the Cruiser just had to go. I honestly felt like a yuppy driving it and it just didnt have the right feeling to it.
I know exactly what I am going to do with the Tacoma as far as mods. First thing is to replace the grill with a color coded one. Lift kit is next, followed by some nice wheels and tires. Then I am going to reinstall my pioneer avic z1 that I saved from the previous Tacoma. The 09 reg cab is a bare bones truck with just a/c and sliding window available here in the northeast. Color choices were very few, with only black and white coming into the dealership over the next few weeks. Very hard to keep black clean in this area, so white was the choice I made.
i will take pics as soon as I get it. Its good to be home again!

According to the dealer, it will not arrive before the 10th of this month at the earliest and the 14th at the latest. Like everything else, its a waiting game, which in this case, is fine with me. My garage is not finished just yet, but should be by the time the tacoma arrives.

just one question why keep two vettes? if you have drove one you have drove them all really.. other than like manual 427 big block vs 84 auto crossfire 350 (yeah had one...sucked)...why not get yourself a nice toyota supra and add some goodies... pull that around with the tundra to shows...or a nice MR2 with turbo...lol just a thought...vettes are nice but one is enough normally lol

The other vette, the 93 anniversary, is one that my son drives. The ownership remains in my name because of the cost of insurance. I pay approximately $200. per 6 mos with the multiple discounts. If he was to insure it, where he lives in NY, it would cost him approximately $3000.00 per 6 mos. The second vette will be stored here from late Oct to early May. Hence, the reason why a 4 post storage lift will be installed in the car. You could ask me, why didnt I build a 4 car garage? Property limitations, cost of a 4 car garage today, made it more logical to go with a 3 car instead and just add the storage lift which only cost $3000.00 installed.

yeah I can understand then....as for garage yeah I really hear you there we have a garage that could fit 6 cars if used just for parking (one huge door not seperate bays) but we have alot of tools and spare parts etc so we put in a eagle 4 post lift ourselves and park one car over the other....currently we store my 69 chevelle SS over my dads 69 chevelle SS...with my moms 05 mustang v6 behind them and then have 3 motorcycles and 3 mopeds crammed in there too LOL

Its been two weeks since I ordered the 09 Taco, and according to the dealer, its on the ground now. I guess that means its off the boat, sitting down in the Port of Newark, NJ. I dont know if anyone here in the forum has ever seen these ports where the cars are unloaded, but it is quite massive. You can drive for several miles and see nothing but a sea of cars and trucks being imported and exported.
The Tacoma is supposedly being loaded onto a trailer and heading up to Lia Toyota near Albany. As soon as it arrives there, the dealer will call me and I will do the dealer swap for my truck, which I was told, happens tomorrow, Friday. Part of the deal is that I and no one else picks that truck up from the other dealership. One of the benefits of formerly being employed by that dealer. I get to do the new car get ready on it and the cleanup also. Sunday morning, I leave for Cape Cod again for a week of r & r. The garage is almost finished, but it will be another week before the lift arrives.
I will post pics when I get back.
