Or factor in the fact that those $8000 greenbacks should be considered a tax return. Good for you OP, I prefer Fords over Chevys but if it makes you happy, enjoy your new ride. I personally wouldn't pay over 25K for a new 2500HD 4X4 let alone a 2WD 1500, I just have no love for GM's products.

same here man( but havent sold yet). bought it for 6250

basics of truck when i bought it:

    1998 4wd taco

    3.4L v6 with 149,000

all service was up to date

    9" lift

brand new out of box 33x12.5x15 mudders

    1200w amp

    2 12's sub

    2 tweakers

    k&N cold air intake

    throtle body spacer

    nice fender flares(like bushwaker)

    whole truck was babied

guy took out a loan at a quick loan place(crudy idea!!! but he needed it to keep his dad in the hospital:( and i think he may have died:( but im not sure) and he wasnt able to pay quick loan back and it sky rocked from 2500 to 6200:eek:.

he had it listed for 7k but i got it down to 6250( that drained me completly of money)

i know it sounds like i was i dick cuz i kinda under cut him but at the time i thought he just wanted to sell his truck.

Here I am 1 year later and couldnt be happier, I love the truck and the power in the V8 can't be beat, plus I put a set of FlowMasters on it and having the rumble of the big ol engine is beautiful. I would say I def. enjoy the trade. plus the extra cabin room is really nice.

My dad got a brand new gmc sierra 4x4 a couple months ago, it is very nice and looks good but we take it out to the desert and it got stuck in 4 low, had to drive it to town in 4the low to get it workedon, plus the transmission has alwaysgot shifted horrible, and yes the silverado has a v8 but my tacoma will beat the sierra because it has soooo power wise yea

    I sold this...

    For this...

I feltsick to my stomach and like throwing up for 3 days straight...regretting it every time I saw my Tacoma sitting in the drive way...but I came to a conclusion...which is this...
After 4yrs/60k miles on my Chevy Vortec Max 6.0 LTZ it did everything I asked it to...drove like a dream, had every feature u'd want in a vehicle (leather, sunroof, electric seats, remote start, etc), all the room and power (towing boat, RV, loaded down flat bed trailers) u could ask for, never let me down...but at 9-10mpg it had to go and it served its purpose while it was mine. I will never ask this of my Tacoma cuz these are not the reasons why I bought it. All I want is better gas mileage and for it to get me to and from my fishing/hunting spots...it will never drive like a Chevy, it will never tow like my Chevy, and has the plainest interior of any truck i've ever owned (thats cuz i have the JBL/Navi/Entune version). With that being said i drive a Tacoma because i have different needs and priorities at the moment. Don't get me wrong even though i've modded my Tacoma to my liking and made it my own it is nice to drive. Am i the type to feel comfortable driving a mid-size truck...hell no! But im sacrificing for now. Above all I strongly believe that after all is said and done the Tacoma will never be half the truck my Chevy was to "me". If there is 1 thing I love about my Tacoma that my Chevy can never give me is the "true" 4x4! So congrats on ur Chevy purchase and don't let these die hard Tacoma lovers talk u down...cuz they don't have the family/personal needs u do nor are they making ur truck payments! My bottomline is this if I were a millionaire...I'd be driving a Chevy not a Tacoma!

I don't think V8 power is enough to convince me to own a half ton, seeing as how the 4.0L Tacoma is a full second quicker 0-60 and 1/4 mile than a Chevy 5.3L 1500, its not a very appealing thing.

I don't agree that the hit in fuel economy is worth it. 1 or 2 mpg seems like a small number until you do the math on how much more you will be spending over the course of a year.

    I agree, and that's why I have the 2.7L.

If gas prices weren't a factor I would probably be driving a 1/2 ton.
