SOLD! OEM Auto-Dimming Mirror with 3.3" Camera Display, Temp, & Compass

LIKE NEW OEM (GNTX 957) Mirror, removed from my 2013 TRD Off Road Tacoma only because I switched to the Limited version that offers HomeLink.

This one includes:
- Auto Dimming Mirror
- 3.3" Backup Camera Display
- Temperature Display that appears to "float" in the mirror (not a fixed LED)
- Compass Display that appears to "float" in the mirror (not a fixed LED)
- Approx 3" wire cover that mounts against the windshield

On-Screen Menus permit adjustment of several parameters including Temp and Compass display color (Green, White, Orange, and Blue), Compass Calibration, and an Ice Warning feature.

Since I do not want to assume, do you need any additional wiring harness? I do not believe my 2014 has a temp sensor or wiring for the temp sensor so I assume that would be an additional purchase?

 

In my '13 base 5 lug all the wiring was in place. Added the same mirror and a PnP camera from eBay, and instant work-ie.

To verify pre-wiring, pull the overhead console, and there should be a matching plug tucked away up there. Pull the tailgate cover, and you should find wiring in the tailgate waiting for a camera if you need to add that.

I didn't care about the homelink, as I put my opener under the dash with a SPST button mounted in a switch blank.

Although I replied in a PM I will post my thoughts here as well. Homelink does nothing for me as well since I do not have a garage. I don't particularly care about the compass either. But the temp display is what I am really after and I like the idea of the white LED display and the fact it is floating rather then having a square cutout. I also like that the display is on the left side of the mirror instead of the right side. The video capabilities intrigue me. I have the back-up screen on the stock radio display but I would love to figure out a way to hook up a feed from the front of the truck as well as the bed of the truck that I could toggle between the two or turn off the video completely when not needed.

In previous research I have done it seems that the 2014 Tacoma did not come with a pre-wired outside thermometer so it appears I would need to additionally purchase and install a temp sensor as well. Does this sound right?

 

I would like to do the same thing. I have seen some aftermarket radios that have dual camera inputs which would be another way to do what you want. If you do it with the mirror keep us posted on how you did it.

 

I believe you will need to run an additional wire from the mirror and down the A Pillar to the engine.

Right now I have no plans to switch out the stock radio for an aftermarket unit so completing this via the mirror would be the best option right now.

I have a bad habit of wanting to do more than I realistically have time to complete. I have gathered quite a few supplies to install on the truck but can never seem to find the time to actually stick them on. *Sigh*

 

Like you, I prefer the "floating" display over the cutout one, along with them being color-configurable and appearing on the left side of the mirror.

I don't KNOW the answer to your question, but I believe @Unchained 5150 is correct about running new wire(s).

 

This week is crazy busy and I am leaving early in the morning and not getting home until after dark until Friday. I will check it out and see what I can figure out. If it is still available great, if not, then my loss. Good luck with the sale and consider this a free bump.
