Almost feel stupid for asking this, but how in the fuck are you tightening the top rear shock nut? For whatever reason they didn't leave any means to put a tool on the top of the threaded shaft.

Just turn the nut until there appears to be good compression in the cushions, similar to how they looked before. A crows foot wrench needs used for accurate torquing, but snugging it up is fine since it’s such a low torque value.

Yeah, tried that. I may try a strap wrench, cuz my grip is not near enough to keep the shock from turning. I know it's only 15ft lbs.

If you are installing the new rear TRD Bilsteins with the reservoir (5160?s), then you shouldn’t be having a problem with the top nut or any rotation issues during assembly. The shock body and threaded rod is on the top, and they don’t rotate. (Make sure to install the bottom to the suspension first.)

Removal of stock yellow or black sticks is a different story. Rotation is a B, and the nut may need cut off.

    Tint, more to come.
I'm curious, for those that have just the PRO kit installed, what size tires and brand did you go with? I keep leaning towards 275/70/17 but someone mentioned it rubs the UCA's so a 265/70/17 is not out of the question. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm going the tall skinny route, 255/85r16 cooper ST. Same overall size is also available in 255/80r17.

Me too, Cooper ST Maxx 255. But I can’t confirm it won’t rub.

I'm not concerned. After my high caster alignment I have a ton of room all around. I don't think .75" over my current 265/70r17 will rub

    I gots to know!!!

The shocks are 6112's (front) and 5160's (back). The 6112's are not adjustable and are on the Baja. Just need to know about the spring.

I am loving the TRD Pro set-up on my 2011 AC 4x4. I previously ran 2.5" Icons on my 03 Tacoma and would have gone with Icon, King, or Fox for my new truck if these hadn't been so well priced. After driving around on the Pro suspension for a few weeks on a variety of terrain I have no regrets.

I replaced the TRD OR suspension on the truck with 60k miles, and it's definitely more firm but not harsh. Quality of everything was like OEM - because it is.

At the same time I added SPC upper control arms, and Dakar leaf springs in the back (with the longer overload removed). I also got some 17x8 six-shooters from FN Wheels and 255/75/17 (32"x~10) Cooper Discovery AT3s. The wheel and tire combo is a pound or two lighter than the stock 16" off-road wheels and rugged trails.

I am very happy with the combination. Minimal lift, great ride for daily driving, USFS dirt roads, and mild trails. Looks killer. Anticipating good reliability out of OEM components.

If you can still find someone selling a kit for a good price it's a great upgrade.

I have the kit as well even though it was lost with UPS for a while. Anyway, went in for an alignment today. I live in SC. Truck came out of WI. Shop said that they couldn't get the alignment bolts to come loose. We talked about my spraying them with a penetrant, but talking to the mechanic, he suggested getting some used lower control arms with a new bolt since there's very little rust here. So that sounds like a good idea instead of trying to wrestle the bolts loose. If I decide to get used upper control arms, is there a reason to get the more expensive tubular ones or would I be ok with stock UCA's? I just want to get rid of all the rusted crap!

If it were mine, and I was going through the trouble of changing them out, I would get a set of JBA UCA's : https://tacoma-upper-control-arms.c...r-upper-a-arms-for-2005-14-toyota-tacoma.html

That way you could dial in your alignment a lot better than what you could with the stock setup.

Well, there's a blast from the past! I ordered a lift kit for my Liberty from him a while back. First class stuff! Thank you for that reference!
