Yep. That's no problem for me.

You want to print these with 100% infill.

I believe you stated in another post that you printed them in PET? I'll do a little research and see if PET, PLA or ABS would be best. What's your opinion?

Yeah. We use a lot of PET for the flammability properties and it is strong. Any of those will do just fine as long as you use a full infill. ABS tends to be a bit finicky in my experience. PET and PLA just print well.

Alright thanks for the response. PLA seems to work really well in my printer and feels very solid too. I'll try out a set before offering them to others.

No problem. It doesn't hurt that it smells good when printing either.

Wondering how hard it is to put an extruded aluminum section thru a CNC and chop it up afterward.

This wouldn't be an extrusion. You'd start with a chunk of billet and machine it to shape. The person to ask for that would be @7r41lbr34k3r . He may or may not be interested in doing this. You'd just have to toss him the f3d or STEP file from the attachment above.

@treimche PLA will definitely warp in the heat. i have lots of experience with FDM printers and materials

Lead time is increasing with other projects, but I could bang these out at some point pretty easily. Simple vise job, and 2nd op might require soft jaws if that 1.1 degree angle is critical and cannot be made parallel to the other side to make things a touch easier.

Do you mean that they will warp from heat in the car? If so, that's a bummer. It might allow the bolts to lose torque. I've only done a test print or two with PLA. Most everything I make is PET.

Are you talking about the front and back not being parallel? If so, I am not sure how that made it into the sketch, but the final part fit too nice to mess with it. A straight up trapezoid would be just fine as long as the angle between the short back end and the sides are maintained.

I agree that PLA would suffer heat related breakdown. I made my AT boot connector prototype from PLA, and when I sent it out I made sure the customer knew he was getting a nylon version before summer hit.

Good to know I can make that parallel. I'll order some flat stock and make up a set in my spare time. I'm guessing it will sell quick, and also give me an idea of how much work will be involved for repeat orders. Then maybe we can look at anodizing a bulk order if it goes well.

Thank you for thinking of me.

Interesting. PLA seemed great going in for us, but it lit up like a flame in the flamm testing also. Oh well.

My pleasure, Rick. You make some really nice stuff and I figured that the new mill might need some more play time. Haha!

Funny you say that, because addressing the crappy stock plastic boot collar issue by making my own would shift (pun intended) the workload to about 95% lathe. It is about 50/50 lathe/mill right now. Was wondering what the heck I would use the mill for if I did that, so this helps ease me into the redesign.
