IMG_4863_1024x1024@2x.jpg Selling my SSP Version 2. Bought this a few months ago to help with the constant shifting and hunting that my 2016 has. This helps A LOT. Selling because Toyota is in the process of buying my truck back from me.

This version 2 allows you to select between three modes, Mild, Moderate and Aggressive shifting. The SSP basically plugs into your OBDII port and a pigtail under your center console and it takes over the shifting duties for you in when Sport mode is selected with you transmission. I hold the revs longer and essentially when your next shift happens your are at a higher rpm and there is more power/torque available.

If you want more info do a forum search (hundreds of pages) or search for it on youtube.

Selling for $145 shipped. Thanks - Joe

Out of curiosity, why is Toyota buying back your truck?
I bought a shift since about a month ago and I love it!

My truck, has been to the dealer multiple times for the shifting, surging and idle flare issues. The TSB has been performed a few times and it never "takes". During the first year of ownership my truck was at the dealer for 37 days. In Ohio, 30+ days is a major element for Ohio's lemon law.

The dealership I go to claims to have a tech that went to the San Antonio plant for training for this specific issue. He drove my truck with me at one point and said, "this is the worst one I have driven." He reviewed my vin and told me that my truck had a very early build date as well. He also opened file with Toyota MFG. The dealership also told me that an engineer was "flown in to examine my truck".

The dealership finally told me that the "truck is driving and performing as engineered and manufactured" when I picked it up. At this point I had researched Ohio lemon laws and knew that I had a case (based on days) so I found a Lemon Law specific attorney. We met a couple times and he filed the paperwork with Toyota. Here is the funny part, he told me that Toyota (and Honda) never admit guilt and this could take a year to get a resolution.

He also told me to drive the truck since I was paying for it. At the time it was 18 months old and only had 5800 miles on it - as I hated to drive it. I was actually driving my parents 2008 Chrysler Sebring instead - It laughably drives better!

I still drive the Sebring as the truck is a POS. But I did drive it from CLE to Tampa to visit my parents in Feb. Even with the SSP my truck was incapable of staying in 6th gear at 69-72 mph. I made an hours worth of videos and posted one of them to youtube as my truck refused to go into 6th gear, even on flat toppo. If you look up the video you will see that even on downhill grades it rarely made it into 6th. And it constantly shifts between 5th, 4th, 5th. Often through the "mountains" of Kentucky and Tennessee it would drop into 3rd gear. Through the more "hilly" sections of the drive it was quite literally shifting 8x per mile/minute. Here is the crazy part, I estimate, during my entire 1100 mile drive (one-way) my transmission shifted approximately 3,000 times.

For comparisons sake, my 2012 Ford Flex (3.5 V6 with 6spd Auto) was roughly the same size, weight, HP, etc as the Tacoma. I drove the Flex twice to florida on the exact same route. The only difference was the Flex was LOADED with my wife, 2 kids and all the crap my wife could stuff into that car, the Tacoma had only me, a duffle bag and Harbor Freight electric power washer in it. The Flex downshifted ONE time through those mountains - once. I specifically remembered when it happened - I thought it was odd.

That's the condensed version. Enjoy your SSP - that guy did an amazing job designing and putting that thing together.
