Long time lurker, less than part time contributor. Just wanted to say this is a great community of folks. Most are funny assholes, most others are willing to help when needed. I've learned a ton from you people about my Tacoma, but it was time to move to something more family oriented. Wheels, tires, and lift already on order, I'll post pics when completed.

I really like the new 4Runners. The trail team ones are boss.

I really wanted a trail but we needed the 3rd row option, which isn't available with the trail edition.

Had an original T4R back when they were just a Toyota truck with the cab cut out and a removable top put on. Back seats bolted in. Took it cross country and put 11,000 miles on it during the trip. Everywhere we went people would stop us and asked what it was. They have come a long way. Best of luck with yours.

1st gen 4Runners are still atrange vehicles. Id trade my Tacoma for one if there were still Daily Driver material and a decent price.

Is there really more leg room in the backseat of a 4-Runner compared to a double cab Tacoma? If so, is it significant? Serious question, I don't know. Nice looking 4Runner btw.

i have the same question. But he said he needed a third row. Damn, losing a lot of cargo space.

That was the point of my question, in general. If the leg room is similar then it all depends on what you need to put in the back...

I'm guessing the 4Runner probably is a bit more "comfortable" inside as well, so there is that.

yep. Only time my entire family is in my truck is trips and beach days. Other than that my wife's rav4 fits us and two kids quite well. And surprisingly has a lot of cargo space. A third kid and I'd need a bigger vehicle. Don't plan on that LOL

Leg room is increased quite a bit over the Tacoma but shoulder room is nearly identical. Feels much roomier sitting in the back vs the Tacoma.

No money, all went to truck...
way more leg room in 4runner. wife's rav4 has an amazing amount of legroom.

Did Toyota tweak the front end of the 4runner again? seems like they can never get the front of 4runners right. I'll bet they tweak the front of the new tacoma soon

Nice!! I may do the same one day (get a 4R), but I am keeping my Tacoma. I've always wanted one but have only had Tacos. Once the Wife's RX350 is paid off I will definitely be looking at these! Good luck building this new one up!

I just did the same a couple of months ago, so much happier. I went from a 2014 off road 4x4 to a 2016 SR5 4x4. Yes the rear has more leg room and the second row actually reclines, my kids love it. It drives so much better, you can tell it is a 100% made in Japan vehicle. The T4R is built in the same factory as the Land Cruiser, they actually share the same platform. Honestly, quality is quite a few notches higher than my old Tacoma.

I still frequent Tacomaworld, great forum and so many aftermarket stuff will still work on the 4runner. Make sure you stick around and have fun. Congrats on a great purchase.

Agreed, you can tell the build quality on the T4R is exceptional.

Exact thing I'm doing. Selling the 08 dbcb for a grey trail. Nice truck.

the 4r is a great vehicle! But aren't you guys gonna miss the truck aspect of Tacoma? Throwing dirty stuff in the bed?

Every time I see a T4R I seriously consider trading in my Taco. Nice ride!

Well, my daughter is getting a truck and I have considered a trailer. I have found nice 5x8's for around $650-$700. That will hold way more stuff than the little bed I had on my Tacoma.

    I went from this.....

    P10407832-Copy_zps69b58b6e_2d034f63f684b0c7b7258a591128a5ab963ea95f.jpg

    To this....

    P1050110_zpsdhktvcnk_73dfb795478ff40977ebfd5c555c73217d021788.jpg

My kids are way happier in the 2nd row and I am much happier driving down the road. I love being able to keep my golf clubs, dance bags and cheer bags in the rear. I also love not wondering if my stuff is going to get stolen when I run into a store. I got so sick of taking stuff out of back and putting in inside the cab on my truck, then coming out and moving it back into the bed. The 4Runner is a fantastic off road vehicle as well, I think better due to its turning radius, much tighter than the Tacoma.
