I was so close to trading in my 2011 Tacoma for a TRD Pro 4Runner. My sister-inlaw picked one up and they are sweet.

But I couldnt give up my Tacoma...plus the wife is picking up a new 4Runner within the next year...win-win for me.

They are built off of the Land Cruise Prado 150 chassis, not to be confused with the USDM Land Cruiser. I had a 2010 Trail Edition before the Subie and I loved that thing. Hands down a much better quality vehicle than the 2005 Tacoma I had before it.

No lift yet, I do have 5100 sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. I am going .85 to keep a slight rake, I don't want reverse frame rake at 1.75. I also kept stock size, 265/70/17 so I could run load C KO2's. I absolutely did not want to run E's, I love my 19-20 mpg to much.

On my Tacoma I upsized to 265/75 which is funny because my 4Runner came with that size stock in a 17.

I'm in the other boat. I have a '98 T4R, my wife has an '04 T4R and every time I see a taco, especially with a hard shell I can't help but think how awesome they look and how I want one. I suppose the grass is always greener on the other side.

i had a 05 v8 4runner and loved the thing. hate the fact that they eliminated the v8 option so i stayed away from 4runners untill now. im gonna hold on to my Tacoma for now but the wife is getting a new 4runner trail or a pro if i can swing it this winter sometime. i love my taco but the 4runners look so good and ride really well.

4runner would have been my choice if I hadnt set my mind on a pickup. Good luck with it, its a sweet suv for sure, but me thinks you may miss the bed of the taco here and there!

The bed of the Tacoma is nice but I rarely ever used it. One of the biggest reasons for the change was my dog, he overheats very easily. On long trips if it was hot out he would get too hot in the back of the truck with the Softopper. Now he can be in the back of the 4runner nice and cool.

The thing I noticed is the back seats on the 4Runner can be canted back and forth to change the angle of the second row, no-go on the Tacoma,

I am 6'4" and "could" maybe last a few hours in the back seat of a runner, not so in the DC Taco.

Wife and I are trying to start a family so I am shopping DC or 4Runner differences lately.

Now that we have started using the T4R more. I can say without a doubt it is much roomier in the back seat. 2 kids (both in car seats) have much more space back there than they ever did in the DC Tacoma. Just the other day I had both kids back there plus my Mom (Grandma) in between the two. It was tight for her but not uncomfortable. We would have never been able to do that with the Tacoma. I just picked up a utility trailer today, so that takes care of not having a truck bed for us. Good luck with your search, but if I was in your situation starting a family I would lean toward the T4R. Quality is a notch above and it is a much more family friendly vehicle (at least for us).

Love that color. Did you take a beating when you traded in the 16' Taco?

I will be in the same boat soon. Anybody regret getting the T4R Limited over the TRD Pro?
