You bought extended warranty? I saw demo at EV car show locally, I never checked it out fully.:D

I've seen a series of Cybertruck videos where the owner and his kids mess with that stuff, prety funny. He really gives it a fair chance and points out the good and bad, both for him in particular as well as Joe Average.

Can't really complain about that re the price being competitive.

I have heard good things about the Tesla dealer experience up down and sideways..sounds like they're doing something right there. I'm not in the market for something now nor will I be for some time, but that ability to get exactly what I want as well as DON'T want is something that might lure me closer.

My nephew bought a 3 and is on the list for the Cybertruck..his girlfriend bought one more recently (Y or S I think?). When he was in the office he got free charging, and his house already had a separate garage panel that was updated so he only had a minimal cost to get the charger at home. Worked out well for him, but of course that's not everyone.

Same as above, my nephew used to get free charging. He's a 30 something and loves gadgets so it's perfect for him. He and his girlfriend aren't the type to go offroad or camping so those don't matter to them.

I myself would consider an EV when I'm in the market to get another vehicle and if it checks my boxes off at that time, I'd be a fool to not consider it.

Too bad Ford has ceased production of the Lightening? Camped with a buddy that has an earlier model F150 Hybrid. He used it to hook up to his travel trailer for electricity while dry camping. Pretty trick in my book!

I forgot that we all have our own oil rigs and refineries in the backyard where we get our gas…oh wait.

IIRC the Cybertruck can also be used that way or to run a house like a generator. Not ideal but if you're stuck it's an interesting option.

Oh yeah that wouldn’t work. Mine is a long range. I have 4AWG wire off a 60A breaker wired to a Tesla universal changer (Does Tesla and J1772). Allows me to charge at 48A at 240V or 11.5kW. As mentioned I do all my charging at work but you never know!

No, but the warranty that comes with all batteries is MUCH longer than I have ever owned any car in my life lol.

Yeah. I have a sub panel wired in my garage that can power most of my house including my well pump. The outlet in the bed if the Lightning is 30A at 240V which is pretty solid for a standby “generator”

Take a Cyber truck and be internet famous. You can hide a generator in the back to recharge it with gas!

Should be a fun trip- what month are you going to do it?

    hahaha no thanks.

TFL truck actually did a pretty awesome series on YouTube called Northern Lightning where they drove a Ford Lightning all the way to Alaska with a 4wheel camper on it (kills mileage honestly). Their secret weapon was bringing along a F150 power boost hybrid with 7.2kW generator built in if they got into a jam. A few people along the way set up outlets for them as well.

TBH if you wanted to do a trip like that with electric you just need to jump from campground to campground since EV chargers that come with every vehicle are designed to plug into a Nema 14-50 outlet which is basically every campground (240V) outlet in existence.

When I had my Tesla you could adjust changing rate on the App which opened up a HUGE. World of charging with adapters for 120v and 240v outlets. I carry a 50ft EV charging cord with me now as well as a 15/20A charger and 50A chargers plus the Tesla adapter to let me use Tesla fast charging.

in reality electricity is a lot more places than gasoline…. You might just have to be there a while to charge up.

For me it’s a very fun toy and my daily driver but I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to electricity.

My Taco may be the last gasoline powered vehicle I own, but until then I plan on taking it on some fun trips also. Curious- what months do you plan on doing the Tuk?

It wouldn’t be too difficult, even without a generator. Most of the Canadian rest stops along the Alaskan Highway have DC fast chargers, even in the middle of nowhere. It won’t be a cannonball run trip but it’s pretty doable in an EV now.

    P

Last 3 weeks of August and first couple of Sept. Plan on a hard push to get there as fast as possible than a long slow scenic trip back through to enjoy it.

Hmmm, I did not know there was a difference. Merriam literally uses the term “cease” to define halt. Now I don’t know what to believe. :annoyed:
