That's pretty good stance. I am right at 84" outside. Axle width is 65.5" WMS I am pretty sure.

D60's are slightly wider than the 44's. Unless you get a jeep 44 which is insanely shorter than a d60. But a full width d60 is only like 2" wider on each side or 3" maybe than my front. It's alot but you get the best.

The bitch about narrowing axle's is that if you do not narrow to 100% perfect length of another model of axle, you will need custom inner axles, which can get pricey.

Did you purposely write that you have "alot of USELESS knowledge to share"?

~65" WMS would be perfect, IMO. This guy says he is running a 65" Diamond

All ford dana 60's are 69.25" WMS. So If you want it any shorter you will have to run small backspacing rims I suppose

Was doing some reading and found this-

Is that true for 1st gen tacos so the tires don't rub or is this rule specifically for their coilover setup?

Width on the axle shouldn't have anything to do with how tall your tires are... People run 40's on toy axles which are like 57" WMS. Ignore that bs if you ask me.

When you come wheel with me on the 21st I will fill you in on any SAS questions :D

Well gentleman next weekend will mark the start of the tear down process. I'm only rebuilding the 85 axle for now and once that is 100% the cutting and grinding will commence. After talking with the owner from Pro Dirt we are just going to collect material to build a SAS kit from scratch. Not for the "cost effective" route but for the customization route. Wayne (Pro Dirt) has some tricks up his sleeve for a SAS that I can't wait to see in action. Thanks again everyone for answering all my questions.

I have a 2nd gen Tacoma and was just wondering if the axle housing from the trail gear 1st gen sas kit would be close to or about the same length of my rear axle. And also what is the frame width of a 1st gen Tacoma and a 2nd gen I cant find exact dimensions anywhere. Thanks

    You're welcome

No. 2nd gen's are wider... Trail gear's axles are junk anyway. Don't buy them. Go with a ruffstuff housing. Dan makes excellent products.

Frame width of 1st gen is 31.5" I am not sure about the 2nd gen, but most likely the same.

Taco WMS is around like 61.5" I believe the 2nd gens are 64 or 65"

thanks for the information. But why do you say trail gear axles are junk?

I just don't see trail gear's product as quality as some other manufacturers. If you read about all the bad shit that has happened about their products on the pirate/ttora, you will see. I do use some of their products, but I wouldn't use their housing. It's been on the market for awhile now and not many people are using it.

Just stick with someone that builds it with quality. Diamond/Ruff stuff
