    I need to do the same. Battery cables are pretty pricey but I thought about using some really nice 2 gauge jumper wires. Going price is about $120 for 40' chemical resistant pieces on Amazon.

    Yeah cut the stock crap out. The stock frame works decently if you want leaf springs but for the ultimate clearance, the new frame is best. I don't think anyone really builds "shitty" steering setups as long as you have a half ass idea of what needs to be done.

    I figure more people in here might be able to help than other places... what are the pro's and con's to a 16.5" wheel? I might be trading my 35x12.50x15's for 37x12.50x16.5's

    A lot less tire choices available. Sounds like you're getting the military 37's? Upside is you can get Trail Worthy Fab to custom make you a set of double beadlocks which is cool.

    They are old style mtr's. TW beadlocks look amazing! It looks like there are a lot of swampers in the 16.5 flavor but it would be nice to have some choice. Tires wont happen often though unless I cut one since it's not the dd.

    Really stupid question, but does it matter at all in regards to the orientation of the top mounting bolts for coilovers?? Or just whatever fits?

    OPINIONS WANTED:

    As some of you may remember, i finally got my 86' grand wagoneer dana 44, and a pair of flat top knuckles.

    Well, i've been pulling a 3,200 lb horse trailer (loaded), and i figured i should step it up to 5.29 when i sas. (37" tires)

    So im thinking of putting my dana parts up for sale, and buying the rock assult housing + both inner chromoly shafts for $650. then i can buy the 30 spline birfields and piece the rest together after that. Or buy an 85' toy axle, and use everything out of that except the axle shafts and housing... It's gonna be more expensive by far, but i'll be using all toy parts, and ill be able to run 5.29 gears...

    You do realize you can use 5.38 gears in the Dana 44 and 5.29's in the rear Toyota axle and its fine, right?

    I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
    I say keep what you have and run 5.38's in the front. Having a little taller gear in the font helps when off road they pull the front tires around corners when going fast. And you shouldn't even have your hubs locked when on the road I know my transfer case hates it and makes all kinds of noises if I have them locked in 2wd going over 50mph. So your girl can hit the button all she wants and it shouldn't be a problem.
