    In the quoted pic, the two fishplates you see here are 11 gauge. On the top and inside of the frame are 3/16" plates that were used box everything in.

    What does that have to do with the knuckle? And, if you're concerned about the knuckles you can reinforce them yourself for pretty cheap.

    I custom made my own double sheer "high" steering and broke the welds beating on the truck. when I say better knuckles I mean something built for high steering that doesn't put all the stress on a steel plate welded to cast. I talked to some of the guys at the M40 shop in moab they said they did the exact same thing with one of their builds for a guy that works there and it seams about once a year they redo them due to cracked wells or the welds breaking. So eventually when I get sick of dicking with them ill just buy some Knuckles.

    When you weld to cast hit with torch, preheat 400 degrees...then when cooling stick it in a bucket of sand and cover it with same...let it cool overnight...

    I put them in the oven and preheated them to 500* then welded them with NI rod and put them back in the oven and turned it off to let them cool down over night then painted them the next day. but you see 42's don't give a fuck what you do land on one at an angle and it'll tell that weld to fuck off. like I said the guys in Moab redo theirs once a year so ill just get something a little stronger for the next round.

    Just a offering some help based on the beating the trucks here take with slamming whoops at over 100 mph sometimes and rocks in the course...and 7 ply sidewall heavy ass Baja ta....but sounds like your doing it so yeah another alternative is a good choice....

    Oh no I appreciate the help advice. I was just saying I did it right and the way I wheel still made it fail so when it happens a few more times ill have to shell out more money for stronger parts or what ever I can find cuz when the weld broke it was the actual weld that broke it broke around the weld which took more material away from the Knuckle. Sad thing is I didn't knotice the break till 3 days later :anonymous:

    Glad it wasn't worse. Steering failures are scary as hell...I ripped the front of my race truck off in whoops at speed....looked like a yard sale hit so hard....bolt failed...
    Also ripped the drivers side of my jeep off sheered ball joint launched the other out of the knuckle destroyed inner shafts outer shafts u joint bent the inner c gusset even though it was trussed...lol catastrophic failure...sometimes good parts go bad...

    Glad it wasn't worse.....and nice build been following it a bit....wife is from Northern Idaho has family down by you and we resided in Boise for a few years so I felt compelled to follow your build a bit lol...very nice

    Looking in to them for sure. I don't wheel hard enough at home to break shit so it will wait till I have funds for a ARB for the rear cuz locker lean at the grocery store sucks and I would love a 1350 series CV joint for my rear drive shaft then I can do things like new Knuckles, link the rear, glass fenders for the front. oh and install my warn 8000 on the rear.

    Thought that wasn't necessary on the intewebs?

    Well sitting the way it does right now im 31" in the front and close to 30 in the rear. I know I know it's tall but that thing is so freaking long and and wide it's stable as hell. I love it just need to link the rear and rotate 16 up front and put my 18 in the rear.

    So looks like ill be getting Knuckles from SKY when the time comes.

    Im leaning 4 link and doing a 25-30 gallon fuel cell. but I could also do a 3 link and do a y link for the top so I don't have a pan hard bar and keep my tank. either way im going to have to butcher the bed to get those 18's in there.

    Forgot to mention that I have close to 6" of up travel in the front at that height so my last 4 link changes in the front really payed off.
