Been watching that build on instagram. He does clean work, I'm just ready for him to get back to Jumby. On a side note, have you seen the door panels he made?

Edit: Son of a bitch I forgot about that shaft again Slander.

No problem gear head I'm in ZERO rush. I have a set of original 30spline inner longs coming from a dude on marlin. With his long side inner, the short side inner you have, and one of my buddies is an rcv dealer so I have a hook up on the birfs themselves, I can build a Frankenstein set of 30 spline longs for less than 450 bucks!!

Yes the jumby is cool! My other favorite build is the "I like bright colors" also on pirate. The budget that dude is on and the simple, zero fucks given way he approaches things puts a smile on my face whenever I read it and reminds me why I love this hobby so much!

I've seen both trucks in person, he cut up a bunch of gussets and fab parts for me, Nik is a artist. Nutralawn is set to sell for top dollar to fund the rest of Jumby. It started off as a quick sas with some left over parts but he turned it into a full resto. I can't wait to see Jumby out on the trail.

I have also seen jumby and nutrilawn first hand. Both beautiful builds. Nik has some serious skills that's for sure.

Has anyone ever experienced axle wrap on brakeing? I have a shudder that comes and goes ever since I swapped in my rear discs. I thought it was a warped rotor but it comes and goes when I brake. It doesn't matter how hard I use the brakes. Really weird.

Need some assistance / Double checking

    Setting Front Pinion Angle....

    Drivetrain:

    Front Toy Axle '83
    Low Pinon Toy 3rd 8"
single chain drive t-case (no high clearance crossmember)
    Leaf Sprung
Shackle reversal (Attach on the rear of the leaf springs)

Been researching how to setup proper pinion angle while running a double cardan (cv) drive-shaft for the front axle swap. This is a plain axle (i.e. spring perches, knuckles, and steering stops are all removed.)

Going off the following link :
    http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PR-shaft/index2.html

I've recorded my measurements as :

Front Pinion rotated up @ 22.10*
    Drive-shaft down slope @20.50*
    T-case Flange up @ 2.20*

Are these numbers good? Front pinion is rotated up 2* above center line to combat with axle rotation at cruise throttle condition.

    Have I lost anyone yet.....?:anonymous:

Thanks in advance for any help. Attached is a visual diagram of the angles.

Since you're running a double cardan you should be ok with whatever it comes out with. The front is going to have different rules than the rear since the steering knuckles must be in a specific window of degrees of caster to proper steering. I don't know what that window is for Toyota front axles, but for example, my D60 should be between 5-7 degrees of negative caster. So if you're accounting for the axle wrap, you would set it at 5 degrees.

You should also check out the toyota bible on Pirate. The shackle reversal does some messed up things to the pinion angle when it starts flexing. 45acp is right as well, you may have to do a cut and turn on those knuckles. How much street/highspeed driving will you be doing with the 4wd engaged? I saw you want to account for the pinion point up under cruise throttle, however i don't know if this would be a factor like it is on the rear axle since 98% of the time on the street the front diff isn't seeing any torque load.

There is a guy on pirate running front hung shackles on a 4Runner. Might could have some info there to help.

I was going to bring that up, however it may cloud the subject. With front hung shackles the front end will act like a 3 link and you wont have to put up with the pinion angle changing BS that you do with a reversal. No need for a long slip driveshaft, limited brake dive, don't have to tub the hell out of your fenders and you point the diff at the output and crack and beer. That's what I'm doing for my SAS, plus I want to try something different.

ZUK did an SAS on his taco with a flipped FJ60 axle and went shackles forward as well.
