Dan has had this 44 under his rig since we built it and hasn't had one issue with it and loves it. But he built it right. It's entirly stock with the exception of an ARB locker, Warn hubs and a Toyota style flange.

The reason he's had so much success with this axle is because he knows how to drive and he has a selectable locker in the front. Yes, they are more expensive at the start until you start breaking u joints, hubs, axle shafts and ring and pinions because your running Detroits, spools or some locker that is full time.

The rear tacoma axle is stronger than a stock Dana 44 axle. A front stock Dana 44 is stronger than a stock Toyota mini axle.

That's a lot of good info guys. At the moment I'm thinking of doing one of two things.

    1) go with the complete trail gear kit from addicted off road. Talk to the guys and gave me a good price as well as located all the in between parts I would need.

    2) go with a d44 and use sky's kit and on my own try to locate the other parts that I'd need.

A complete TG kit, you mean using their front housing and all...? Personally if you were to get a housing I would just buy a ruffstuff. I have never used a TG housing, but they have had many bad reviews about leaking, and some weird oily substance that seeps out of their metal...

    But do as you wish
