went out this weekend and wasn't to impressed with how the pitbull's did in the snow. A guy on trail grapplers was up there and did great. Still though for all around best traction on wet, snow, and rocks i still think the new MTR is where it's at. Not that i won't give the IRock a shot the next time i have to buy tires. It's about the only tire i haven't run.

The pbrs seems to be a rock tire and are decent in the rest of conditions. Snow you need a tighter tread pattern since snow grips snow better than rubber grips snow.

Front diff with 5.29 gears and ARB locked with low miles for $1000. Seems like a good deal. What do y'all think?

haha! i mean you buy the arb and get the re gear for free...... so if you are going to do that anyways, it will definitely save you money.

i got mine with an arb and 4.88s quite a bit cheaper.

I am pondering the idea of doing a sas 4 link with 40s at least..

would need a shop to do most of the work.
just not sure if i want to drop 15k or not.... LOL

My truck has a home-made square driveshaft between the Dana 44 and the t-case. It obviously vibrates real bad over 20 mph being square.

Wondering if anyone has experience with a flange adapter such as this one - http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/dana-44-to-toyota-driveline-flange-adapter.html

Does the IFS driveshaft have enough travel to be used here? Is this a better or worse option than having a driveshaft made?

Sorry for the ignorance- trying to learn here.

Plenty of people use those conversion flanges. I have no input on the driveshaft though, both of mine are custom.

Is it leaf sprung or linked? If leaf then no, but linked you could prob get away with it other than making the shaft longer.

If it is forward shackle you can use stock driveshaft. Rear shackle and you need long travel driveshaft. Too much swing forward during down travel

Interesting, makes sense. I have rear shackles. Sounds like a custom front driveshaft it is.

I like where you mind is at but for the $700 i think ill just buy the Trail gear wider housing with cromo inner shafts to match.

    Apples to oranges.

A TG axle is 700 for just a bare housing and inner shafts. Then you have to add a third (core charge), loaded knuckles, arms, and birfs. So you have a ~$2.5k axle with an 8 inch third. As much as slander has in the whole swap including 37's on beadlocks.

$300 for the fj60 axle end to end. Modified j-arm steering, secondhand chromo axles and birfs all said and done for less than $500 before gears are installed.

$1000 cheaper with the 9.5 third, I'd take that every time

oh i have a complete mini truck axle i just want it wider with cromo's id end up putting cromo axle's in it anyways. so rather then do all that axle work then buy mini truck axles id just go wider at the same time.
