I had all the mini axle kewl parts and high pinion, so I shelled $$$ for the TG taco width housing. It's a pretty nice piece for the money, lots of clearance.

Props for widening your own housing though. If I had a decent shop, I would have considered that task.

Snowy summed it up. That's a 60 axle so it is wider than a mini already. I did consider an ruffstuff housing but I picked up f/r 60 axles for 300 total. If I want to go wider I'll just lop the end offs the rear axle and put balls on that. I also have to drive this thing to the trails so I can't go much wider than this will be. I'm going to have less money into this SAS then most people have in their beadlocks, and it will be strong as shit. Now time will tell if my cobbeled together pile of parts will actually work LOL

Plus if I want a bent axle with the knuckles welded on wrong I'll do it myself, not give trail gear 700 of my money LOL!!!

Ah that's right I forgot it was a 60, sorry. I highly doubt I will bend this housing, not that I haven't seen one bent. The knuckles are dead on too. I love reading TG hate.

True i missed the part about yours bing a 60 before i posted I'd go the same route but I want the HP 8" housing though had one before and that thing was tough + more clearance. This next build is going to be for my little girl. I'm going to start it and make it drive so it doesn't get lot rot and when she is old enough we will finish it. Since it's going to be her first truck it's going to be a mild DD rig with 35's max taco already has a rear locker.

Edit. As far as the TG axle i agree they used to build some shit stuff but they have come up in the world and stand behind their products now.

That and they cost way less than a diamond housing.

n00b question (again). Will a high pinion fit a stock 8" housing on an 84?

What vehicle, wheeling terrain, wheel size, driving style, how much power you will be running through it.

lol its like any mod, there are pros and cons to everything, and everyone's different so its not really spoon feeding, its a good question. Always good to read up on the pros and cons from the experts and make the decision that way!

Cost and availability are another tow factors i got to add. What they want for the HP diffs are insane, and its still an 8", so it may be cheaper to roll the dice and get some factory 4.88 junkyard LP diffs for $100 and run those as opposed to the crazy prices people want for the HP stuff. Your 99% more likely to blow the birf or the hub before the ring gear in the front anyway unless your trying to do a Tim Cameron impression and hill killing with your tacoma.

My plan is to put 5.29s in with RCVs so I'm not sure I'll blow up my birfs :D

Depending on tire size you may become good at swapping thirds.
