they are a little different tread pattern but still for $400 i couldn't say no. will build adapters for them and mount them onto the taco just for fun probably won't run those bearing killers for very long and then start hunting for some axle tech axles after i buy back my old 24 valve. The guy i sold it to is wanting to off load it and i haven't even pulled it out of the truck yet.
It'll push the other taco sas/rebuild back but that's ok my little girl can't even crawl yet let alone need a truck that can.
And i have these chilling in the shop for the Techoma

yeah might have to buy a different tire knife just to work over those tires and loose like 400#'s of rubber.
the pictures of the Irok's is a set of 39.5x13.50R17's and a set of 42x14R17's

damn man, those are some big meats lol.

axletech's are massive. I see them in the military all the time now; i think they have upgraded most if not all the vehicles with those axles. Massive is actually an understatement; but they are actually more compact than the old school rockwells; primarily because the the rockwells have that gigantic top-loaded differential whereas the axletech's have a rear mounted 3rd member. I've seen pics onoine of a few big diesel pick up trucks built with those axles.

at times they pop in auctions but they are really expensive still. It will take several more years before they become more common

I've seen a few sets 5 ton axle tech go for $1200. just waiting for the guy to get some more in. they have outer planitary gears that make the total ratio 7 something to 1 so yeah great axles.

$1,200 for both front/rear for the 5ton ones? That's super cheap from what I understand.

Yea, super low gearing. The axle shafts are massive too.

My bad those weren't axle techs. But a pair of steering axle tech 4000's goes for 2500

Idk. Was hopping to buy back the motor for my 2000 tow rig. It hasn't even been pulled for the guy that bought it. And then find some axle tech 4000's. I hear they have factory air lockers

didn't know about the factory air lockers. But it does not surprise me, the military has a ton of cool new stuff now.

whatever you build with those tires and the axletechs...it's gonna be a beast in all ways

What kind of solid axle set up would it take to compete with a LT rig? A friend of mine @Ghost. might be looking for a cool project and we were BSing about what would be more fun to have up here in Alaska.

My dream rig up here would be a SASed 2nd gen 4 door with D60 up front and 14B rear with links, bypasses, bumps, straps, and coilovers. Then supercharge it, would this sort of rig be at least somewhat competitive to a comparable 2nd gen with just LT? I'm sure the SAS would weigh more, but not sure on the rest. Any experience here?

I wonder....why didn't you build your dream rig from the start? Serious question man. Not as far off reach as you might think.

Anyway, to your question; Ultra 4 cars typically have solid axles. *SOME* have been using LT instead of solid front axles. The debate is always which one is better cause in Ultra 4 you have both high speed desert racing and rock crawling. So it is quite a challenge to build a car that can do it all perfectly.

Point is, yes, you can build a toyota rig with 1 ton solid axles front/rear and if the suspension is well designed and you have plenty of horsepower; and you would be able to compete against your friend and have fun.
