    Ok, perhaps saying "almost everybody" was an overstatement LOL

    But over the past several years some teams have been swaping their solid axles for LT.

    Lack of funds, still in college, family on the way. Dream rig done right is easily 50k (if not more) more than I have into my truck right now.

    I'm still content with my rig and will upgrade it or build other rigs as time and funds allow.

    I'm not wanting to compete with my friend's potential project, just wondering how a SASed 2nd gen compares to a LTed 2nd gen on trails, beaches, or potentially small local races.

    Well, if you build a 2nd Gen "rocksolidtoys" style with over the top custom parts, then yea, you are looking at probably 50 grand or more LOL. You can do it for less $$$ for sure. All I am saying is that building a rig twice or even three times is what makes this hobby expensive. Many times biting the bullet from the beginning ("do it right, do it once") is more cost effective in the long run.

    I am not sure that I have seen straight comparison between a 2nd Gen SAS and a 2nd Gen LT. I gave the Ultra 4 example to show that you can totally do the go-fast thing with a solid axle [though some of them Ultra 4 rigs are moving to LT now]. If your concern is the added weight of the 1 ton axles in a 2nd gen vs a potentially lighter 2nd gen LT; well you can build custom 1 ton axles (609s) that are lighter to reduce the weight of the rig.

    because the universe is telling you to build the first ever Ultra 4 rig with axletechs :D

    that is one heavy heavy Ultra 4 rig. but i always did want a 900 horse cummins
