Lmao, you only need a torque wrench that goes to like 400ftlbs to get the proper pre load on them!

It is actually more like 650ftlbs I think LOL

Getting them off is another PITA...gotta heat the crap out of them first.

But I think you would go through a few sets of ball joints before you have to mess with the kingpins for the first time.

Hell no, I didn't even have a garage until a couple years ago so I'm all electric tools. The new impacts are so good I'm not sure I'll ever get air.

Kingpins are no joke, I've refused to work on them in the past because they require so much heat and torque.

Crazy you have been wrenching on that thing all this time without air tools, they are the single best tool(s) i have bought. I wrenched on my old jeep in college air tool less and it sucked.

I have not drank the cordless electric tool koolaid yet, outside of drills and shit like that.

I built my duals in the bedroom of my apartment and installed them in the parking lot if that says anything about my wrenching habits.

I'm super impressed with my 1/2" impact, its rated for like 700 lb-ft and uses the same batteries as my existing dewalt stuff

Anyone else running DIY beadlocks? How did you balance them? I elected to run dynabeads, but only time will tell if they will work. Just welded up my last two wheels last night.

You don't balance them. Seriously, I run 37" PBR's on my truck with no balancing at all on cheap steelies and they are smooth up to 80...

I doubt my welds are consistently even, so I'm sure the wheels are going to be out of balance. I'm hoping the dynabeads will work to at least make it bearable.

It's a 100lb+ wheel and tire combo, a couple oz's here or there isn't going to make any difference on the balance. At that weight, it is what it is.

The biggest thing you can do on a diy beadlocks is make sure the wheel is centered relative to the tire on the beadlock side. A tire that's not round can't be balanced.

I was going to throw some air soft in mine but my combo will weigh close to 125lbs but now that I read this I'm rethinking it.

    Truck looks great!

I think I remember your truck from various wheeling events in TX. I lived in Houston around 10-11 years ago; and used to go on wheeling events with Shannon and the Houston group often. TTORA was still alive then.

My Nitto 40"s with steelies are about 138lbs each  Might get some alloy wheels later; they tend to be 10lbs lighter than steelies. That's 40lbs of less rolling mass...maybe not worth the expense. Dunno.... Maybe the best solution is to get smaller tires :D

No kiddin with those D60s...need big ass air tools for that lol

I want to get a good set of high quality cordless tools. They really come handy on wheeling trips.

Finally got the rear d60 in, 35 spline chromoly and grizzly locker. Fj case was done a few months ago as well as abs delete. Pic looks like shocks are bottomed out for some reason might redo the upper mounts soon here.

    Nice!

Did you narrow that axle? It might be the angle of the pic but it looks like a narrow axle on my computer screen.

It does look like the shocks are close to maxed out! The upper mount [a cross bar from one side to the frame to the other] for mine had to be pushed up as well for the same reason.

Good work. I also have the same locker in my 14bolt BTW

Thanks! So it's actually a full width(69"). I went with 4.5 backspace wheels so they wouldn't stick out way further than the front until I can tear that out but they still stick out a good amount. Angle does make it look kinda narrow I will say, also the fact that it is under a second gen too. I'm digging the extra real estate between the wheel and the leaf springs but I'm probably just gonna raise the mounts on the crossbar.
