With single joints the pinion supposed to be perpendicular, right? Mines setup like that and I get minimal vibes, then again ive only went 20 or so with it in 4wd.

Right, they should be parallel, but that puts the pinion pointing down. That doesn't make any sense to me. lol

This is live from the garage, and this is close to maxed out, no real binding.

I have my lowers mocked up and I'm sitting here looking at the realestate for the upper on the passenger side. There's not much room to play with and it seems like the cat on the header is going to be in the way.

Does anyone have a good shot of their upper link they can share?

Upper link seems to always be a bitch no matter what rig you have.

I have the exact same axle you have, completely different truck though. My upper link is on the driver's side. There's a small truss with an upper link axle bracket on top of the already gigantic pumpkin, and that's where the upper links connects at the axle end. Some people just weld the upper link bracket on the cast directly because of space issues.

Sorry, don't have a good pic. The first pic on this post from my build thread gives an idea of what the small axle truss looks like. Hard to tell but the upper link is somewhere in there lol https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/99’-reg-cab-3-link-sas-1ton-axles-atlas.441316/page-4#post-13234691

I took a look through Mark's build last night and found a few shots of what he did. From the looks of it I may need to raise the belly up from where it's at now to get everything in. My up travel at the moment is non existent.

@NwiTACO what did your belly height end up being?

    Old pics from Mark's build.

Does he have a body lift? Also, did you decide to place the upper link on the passenger side??

BTW...rookie question. How do you link pics from other threads onto your own posts? I tried to copy the the pic links but it wouldn't do anything

Here what I did on an 09. I was able to stuff a 2" upper without needing to move the cat. It is very close to the cat/flange and frame, but it clears at full bump and when fully flexed at each side. These pics are at full compression.

Is there more room on the PS or is it just easier to package the axle end mount?

There may be room, but it's damn close. I'm going to make life easy and just cut the cats off and weld in a new flange. :D

The room is on the passenger side. With the diff and driveshaft on the drivers it would be a nightmare to get the upper link in there as well.

Managed to squeeze the upper link in last night. I did cut the cat off the header though. I mean, who needs cats? Lol

Looking at that, would it have been beneficial to chop the frame rail off right in front of the cab mount and build a new one further outboard then move that link a bit further outboard and away from the motor?
