4speed? I'm considering the 2spd with the 5.0 gears or a marlin dual with 4.7s. I have the A340F with 4.88s right now and it's too high for 37s. Any thoughts?

I have an Atlas 4 speed and I'm just using the stock transmission mount (poly bushings though) but have started a mount that mounts to the atlas inspection plate on the bottom of the case. I really need to complete that....

Atlas 2 speed with 5.0 gears is what I plan on getting if I ever get an atlas. Maybe next year lol. I love the 4.7s in my rear case right now. Same setup as you just the A340H (I think that's the 2wd tranny) with the prerunner adapter, 37s, 4.88s, dual cases with 2.28 in front and 4.7s rear. Rarely use the double low but never use the 2.28 alone.

my advice is buy the 4 speed I went with a 2.73 and the 3.0 and i know everyone says but they are so close why? With my power/weight having that fine split is nice and i do use double low when i need more control over the truck like in tight areas. Then again i can cook my 42's in 2wd high range.

this is with the front only in 3.0 low and it on the second "tire warmup" i didn't pull it into 2nd like i normally do i let it go all the way to overdrive.

1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.
Built a stand for the axle so I can start clean up. Upon removing the hubs and knuckle I find a bent upper ball joint. It was really loose and the lower ball joint is toast lots of slop. Once I get it tore down so I can get it on the stand I’ll check the tubes to make sure it’s not bent @allenfab

Who do you guys suggest to get some knuckles machined, and if possible get high steer from same company? Or should I just get a set of Artic knuckles/high steer?

Regular 2 speed atlas here. No additional crossmember added....yet. I don't think it is needed with the 2spd atlas,

Atlas 2spd vs 4spd? Tough choice for sure. There's about a $1,000 difference between the two. One needs to look for how the gear overlap will work (or not) with one's specific application to determine if the extra grand is worth it.

    Atlas 4 configuration options:

    Option #1= 1.0:1 (Hi) / 2.72:1 (extra low)/ 1.50:1 (low)/ 4.08:1 (low-low)
    Option #2= 1.0:1 (Hi) / 2.72:1 (extra low)/ 2.00:1 (low)/ 5.44:1 (low-low)
    Option #3= 1.0:1 (Hi) / 2.72:1 (extra low)/ 3.00:1 (low)/ 8.16:1 (low-low)
    Option #4= 1.0:1 (Hi)/ 2.72:1 (extra low)/ 3.80:1 (low)/ 10.34:1 (low-low)

The 2spd atlas, on the other hand, has the first four transfer case gear options available in the 4spd atlas...plus two more options:

    Option #1= 1.0:1 (Hi)/ 1.50:1 (Low)
    Option #2= 1.0:1 (Hi)/ 2.00:1 (Low)
    Option #3= 1.0:1 (Hi)/ 3.00:1 (Low)
    Option #4= 1.0:1 (Hi)/ 3.80:1 (Low)
    Option #5= 1.0:1 (Hi)/ 4.30:1 (Low, only available on 2spd atlas)
    Option #6= 1.0.1 (Hi)/ 5.00:1 (Low, only available on 2spd atlas)

I went with the 2spd atlas with 5.00:1 gears. This combo seems to work really well with a 5speed tranny; similar to having a single toyota case with 4.7 gears.

If AA had the gear options spaced out differently for on the 4spd atlas I think I would have ordered one; or if I had a different rig with different engine/tranny combo.

Either way, one cannot go wrong with an Atlas. These things are really awesome.

i really debated it but i personally wont ever do it. in double low the truck is still stupid slow in first gear.

I would love it that low. I rarely if ever use my "higher" low range even in sloppy muddy/wet rocks.

Oil would certainly be an issue!

The torque multiplication that super mega low gears at the tcase produce is not really needed with an engine that produces a decent amount of torque to begin with matched to an auto tranny. Most guys I've seen here in the southwest that have very torquey engines almost never go past 3.0 gears in their Atlas.

It seems like many people almost never use the extra low range in compound low. Nice to have for sure.

I personally think bitting the bullet on a 4spd atlas would better anyway - in the long run - than dealing with toyota duals or crawl boxes.

I use double low a ton for the reduced wheel speed...12:1 compound low is awesome...4.7 for everything else. 2.56 low almost never gets used now unless I'm bombing between trails.
