    Got you.

People try all kinds of things to avoid spending money on a pump. But even though you can get hoses and fittings locally or cheaper online, it is a huge time saver to get a kit with a good pump and all the other minor stuff pieced together.

I have the PSC pump, but for the 4cyl....and yea, I had to go with TG's bracket. In my case it bolted directly without any issues.

But it seems like the pump/bracket combot for the V6 is different then from what you said.

Sounds like the same procedure for a Saginaw tc pump, which is what the psc pump is. I'll probably just get a remand pump off rockauto and do the flow mods I have been reading about. If I have to drill holes, I'm saving a few hundred bucks.

As for hoses and fittings, I get the fittings off Amazon and will probably use the hose kit from psc again like I used to build my hoses that are in there now.

Piecing together a kit myself doesn't scare me, the trucks been put away for the winter so I have a few months to gather parts. I just have this to build and to fix my big ass oil leak coming off the back of the block that just started.

I must of got lucky and got one of the last "3.4l" kits, did not had to modify anything, bolted right up with TGs bracket.

Although I will say when it comes to the reservoir the difference between PSCs and TGs is miles apart. Have mounted both the PSC (mine) and the TG (sami buddy). PSC is nicely machined and has a serviceable internal spin on filter vs TG is literally a coke can with a stamped steel lid.

Oh and of course spring for field serviceable fittings.

Not a bad idea especially with the down time, look into a slightly smaller pulley for the ps pump as well. I know both PSC and TGs kits come with smaller pulleys than stock.

Yup I need a project to web wheel on all winter lol!! I will probably get a psc resi and the tg bracket. I have field serviceable fittings and spare hose in my spare parts kit for wheeling, I have tons of those. My friends have all had good luck with surplus center Rams, so I'll probably go with one of those.

Yea spending $1600 on my steering kit (expensive) but worth every fucking penny. Best mod I ever did besides 3 link. Hydro assist sucks, every one I've seen at least. Not knocking it just saying what I've seen personally.

I’ve had great luck with the full PSC assist setup I inherited on the truck. It bleeds easy and doesn’t have any jerky-ness on the highway. The only outside the box thing I’ve done is remake the brackets to lower the pump so the resi is higher above it to prevent starving on long uphill climbs.

It’s at least 7 years old too, I don’t have the receipt so I can’t say for sure unless @crolison knows.

I don't have balls to try designing a full hydro system myself and driving it on the street. I know lots of people with hydro assist and they seem to like it once the bugs are worked out. At least if the hydro assist system fails I won't die.

    Still kicking too!

It’s a shame a lot of the old pictures from the TTORA days are gone with Photobucket. I think most of original build on this truck used to be on there

Okay so im really curious.. people who SAS usually use an IFS steering box or one off a mini truck or something of sorts right? Why does no one use a steering box off an 80 series land cruiser? Much bigger and stronger, and no need for hydro assist.
