I don't have any pictures of my cardain joint, but it is clearanced. My front ujoint ended up binding at full droop so I clearanced that one myself. I didn't have to grind out much to make it clear though.

Droop everything out and see where it hits, then decide if it's worth tearing it apart to grind on it.

This is the only pic I have of the double cardan. It's hard to see, but the ear on the outer joint has been shaved down.

I would say those prices are the exception not the norm for the kingpins. When I was shopping around for axles - and I spent over a year looking online and locally - I never found a late 70s kingpin that was under $1,000...plus shipping. Even late 80's kingpins - what I ended up with - were pricey. But of course, when you are not looking to buy then the good deals come up.

Ball joint d60s, yea, those are cheap.

Those are kingpin rebuilds and I'm pretty sure they do Yukon gears but don't hold me to that.

Edit: Confirmed, they do carry Yukon gear sets

I've never used them but I have a friend that has and he hasn't had any problems. That's what I'm about to order too if that helps.

If I had a place to keep it I would get it from you :D Either ball joint or kinpin, older D60s are certainly easier to work on than the monstrous super 60 ones.

Why would you want a rock assault axle??

theres a guy in town that has one that is fully built. HP 4.88 diff with arb and chromo shafts with 6 shooter knuckles so id be trading the king pin 60 and a 14 bolt that im $500 into for a rock assault axle that hes 3700 into. he wants a bigger axle so he wont break and i want the smaller axle so i can build a expo rig that will be on 35's

That guy must either be crazy desperate for 1 tons or drinking too much beer this winter

But if the deal goes through you'll be money ahead. That rock assault axle has all the bling already in it, perfect that smaller rig you want to build.

Yeah he's not really great with money and doesnt work on his own shit hence the appeal for him to have something that will be really hard to break and he gets to jump up to 40's

The guy is trading the trail gear axle for 1 tons.

The trail gear axle has all the bling parts so I wouldn't worry about it anyway.

the tons are in decent shape king pins were just rebuilt and has all new wheelbearings but will need geared locked and so with the 14 bolt all the custom clean up and brackets will need done plus the 14 bolt could use disc brakes. But hey it's not cheap to upgrade and in my defense i tried to talk him into tons to begin with but he promised he wouldn't push past 35's well here he sits on 37's with a blown up E locker rear and broken housing wanting tons and 40's.

the trail fail stuff has gotten tons better and i will not push past a 35 with this new build because i already have a truck with tons and 42's for the nasty trails. Personally i feel that the trail gear axles are very unlikely to break when fully built and only pushing 35's. I want something i can use to keep the miles off my diesel and maybe give to my daughter if she gets into offroading.

    so this vvv

Anybody ever raise the motor? Looking to do .25-.50 inch or whatever the hood and transmission allow. Have the trail gear bomb proof mounts and was considering taking them apart and remaking one of the mounting surfaces thicker.

It ain't that true! I've lost count of how many guys I've met that said the same but ended up upgrading tire size later on, which of course called for axle upgrades. Well...to each his own.

And yea...it costs money to upgrade and keep upgrading to no end regardless of axle type.
