Havent been on in a while but may have got a set of 39 in tires for free.. If they fit without cutting the cab again I plan to run them. Good idea or bad idea? Toyota 8 in front with rcvs, 5th stud, etc.everything you can do to a front besides 25mm pins and a high pinion.. rear will be the full float 9, 35 spline so not worried about that. Ive been told a built front axle is equal to a stock dana 60 and think itll be fine just wanted to see if anyone else has any experience.

I think you’ll be mostly fine as long as you wheel with your head. Your truck is light too...I’d just be mentally ready to replace an axle/birf or r&p and not be upset about it.

I almost did but honestly I would have ended up going with tons on that too. Not a big fan of the lack of tcase options and gearing and the awd. Nothing wrong with that. I may do a 3rd gen runner later on.

wait you know you can get 3:1 tcase gears and part time 4wd pretty easy right?

true but thats the only ratio you have to choose from, which is really fine for most people, i'd like to at least get closer to 4:1. Part-time 4wd is not so simple with them either, the tcase spool you add then you'll need different hubs too. If you're planning on a v8 though you'll have none of those issues anyway so should be nice. If the body on the XJ gets trashed I may put the axles under an 80 later on possibly.

Delete the smog, AC, and put a CAI (really hot air until I build a shield) and it'll add 20-25HP. Thing feels like a race truck now lol

They on paper should have paid like 1/10 of what an 80 cost... If they picked an xj up for more than a $1000 bucks they got ripped off though. I love Toyotas but would take an xj over an 80 as a wheeler, never got the whole 80 thing.
