Pax drop. More factory solid axles with that option out there, which means less likely to have to go to a custom housing which means cost savings.

You could in theory flip any axle but it's not really advisable if you are new at fabrication and dont have the tools. I did one because I had an assload of money sunk into my lefty and doubler setup that I would never recover selling it, but would not do it again. I still dont think I did it right, it looks like I have positive camber, but the axle shafts fit in there and it doesn't leak.

Just thinking through a bunch of options. I had been thinking about starting from a custom housing but I'm not committed to that.

My buddy has a driver drop KP 60 front with 5.38 gears and locker and a rear to match sitting in his shop

Instead of dropping $1100 on the new RCVs for my Diamond rear I could be putting that money into tons...

You can get superduty 60s and a Detroit locker for the rear for that $1100!

I keep seeing these kits, but have never seen a ball joint failure or a reason you really need these. What's the tire size that these are needed?

Same here, I always thought the ball joints were fine on those unless you are a wanna be ultra 4 guy.

I’ve seen a few photos of them failing, but from being ABUUUUSED.

pretty sure both my upper balljoints are bent.

what some people do is run a lower balljoint where the by upper balljoint goes. Which seems like a great idea. Lowers are massive.

I can't speak on the SD, but for almost every other axle, I've seen BJ's fail. Especially on the weaker axles like 30s/44s. 60's are more resilient, however they do fail.

Not only are those a simple replacement, unlike a BJ, they are far stronger. I rather not risk a BJ failure, they are a pain in the ass and wreck everything when they go

I apologize if this has been asked numerous times before but... I’m finished my sas on my 04DC and I have the stock V6 PS pump and a mini truck IFS steering box, is this combination ok to run for a while? I have a PSC pump but I need to drive 16hrs to a Denver for work and don’t want to swap pumps before I go. Steering feels ok but I’m not sure what the long term effects are for this combo.

Its hit or miss. Some people can get away with bone stock pumps and others cant get it to work with even upgraded pumps. I didnt see you mention having a hydro assist ram on there, if you dont have one I'm 95% sure you will be fine. For reference I'm running the stock pump with a ford steering box on my sas, no ram and its awesome on the street, but kind of sucks offroad.
