that's what I told my buddy when he asked why I bought a ubolt eliminator perch set instead of building my own

I got enough obstacles in the way of my projects, building parts to build the project doesn't need to be another :D

Sadly true. I just had a race kart expedited up 300 miles to me today on a same day delivery (Friday) instead of waiting to ship Monday on LTL for Tuesday delivery. Have to be loaded up Wednesday night, so it was worth the extra $200 to gain 4 nights of work time or not spend $200 in fuel and spend all day on the road driving to get it myself

You are absolutely 100% correct. And what you said applies to many areas of life not just projects or hobbies.

What hangers and leafs are everyone liking these days? Had a TG kit on my 1986 truck but want to see if I can finally build something on a "bUdGeT"

I run FROR hanger (dont see it on the site at the moment) but Rancho 44044 springs. Tried and true method for back in the day when guys ran Waggy 44s. Had a TG set of leafs, bent then, not designed for Tacoma weight.

Doing it today, I'd try out Sky Offroads new high clearance hanger, still using the 44044s.

Rancho 44044 are great cheap springs. Had them on my 04 DC for a couple of years and end up adding a leaf to retain the arch/ride height because they stated to sag. But that was from abused.

If you want to go cheap, grab some rears from second pickup and repack them and use them in the front of your tacoma. Make sure to buy full width hangers. I heard one too many stories about people buying hangers that were meant for first/second gen pickup. They're too narrow.

Just build a hangar. Also look into to putting the shackles in front, solves a ton of steering and driveshaft BS.

I'm running fj62 RUF but I'm weird, don't do that.

On my old 83 from years ago, I had ruf in the front and a Ford pack in the rear. Work perfect.

For you self installers, do any of the online retailers actually allow warranty claims for broken gears or is buying through 4WP and doing walk in exchanges a better bet?

Need to order stuff to build up another V6 third and trying to decide where to order from. Paying an extra $300~ to ECGS for install and 5 year warranty doesn't sound too bad :notsure:

I didn't pay for an extra warranty and ECGS sent me a new third when I grenaded mine. I will always use them, stand up company for sure.

I’ve had some friends blow up 5+ diffs with no issue on warranties from ECGS. I’ll only ever order gears assembled from them because of how they’ve handled everything
