Fox 12” 2.0’s. 7/8ths shaft and remote resi. Ordered like Dec 22nd and they showed up yesterday. Ordered Fox 2.0x2” air bumps last night and I think they’ll be here early next week.

Dang. Maybe mine won’t take too long then. They were just 2.5x14” performance series. Still not sure what I want to do for bumps. Probably a basic bitch poly bump

I had a one piece for years and it was a nightmare… I finally ditched it for removable tubes and 1/8” aluminum skid

The setup this local guy was quite similar to what you posted. So you agree those "1-piece" designs are a pain!

But what you have now...wow...what an amazing design. Seriously man, that looks really good. Love the combination of removable tube and plate.

You're giving me some good ideas. I do not need crossmembers to hold any parts of the driveline necessarily (though I could add some support to the Atlas case), but I do need underbelly protection. The combination of removable tubes and plate could do the trick. I have left over material from the exo cage, so might as well use.

Thanks for posting those pics. Great fab work.

Famous last words lol. Most people who say "I'll never go bigger than this tire size" end up upgrading.

Having said that, however, after 6 years with 40"s, I have zero desire to go any bigger. Feel pretty confident about that :D

As deep as we are in these projects already…. Why not air bumps? It’s like $500 more than normal bumps but make a huge difference if you’re in them a lot.

Always thought they would be good for fast stuff and a waste for slower speed. I like that you know exactly where hydro bumps bottom out though. Little ambiguous with poly.

@Snowy and @slander talked me into them. But they’ve been my sounding board for ideas and I’ve basically just copied Connor’s whole front end build besides the axle.

Necessary on a crawler? Definitely not, arguably no bump stops are necessary at all. Are they nice to have when you slam down backing off ledges or when you’re bombing between trails? Absolutely

I have hydro bumps on the front end of my leaf sprung truck and I'm adding them to the rear. I thought they were dumb internet web wheeler hype, then I got them and they are pretty damn sweet.

With a custom front link suspension, this seems like a weird area to save money on. Needed, no, but technically none of the crap we do to these trucks is needed.

I don’t doubt they’re nice to have. It may be a good future upgrade. Poly has worked well so far and I don’t plan on going as fast as I did with LT. Granted there will be a good bit more mass being slung up and down

Not so much about money as value maybe. Like spool vs selectable. Spool is simple, fewer parts to break, super strong and will last forever. Kind of like poly. Selectable would be cool, but more parts/maintenance, more expensive like hydros. I’m not totally against it, I just don’t see the benefit equivalent to the expense just yet. Will do more research.

By that logic why aren't you just slapping some leafs and white parts store shocks on this and letting it rip?

I can say I wheeled on poly forever and after I got the air bumps it's night and day differnce. So nice not slamming down off a ledge and hitting your head against the ceiling.

I don’t think that’s the same logic at all. Cheaping out on vital components vs not seeing value in air bumps right off the bat are two different things. I can easily add air bumps later if the bottom out is too harsh.

I think you’re both at opposite ends of exaggeration, but we get the point.

Decent logic would be why you opted for 2.5” remote resi fox coilovers when smooth body 2.0’s will do more than what you need on that truck if you never plan to be at speed? If you thought the cost of 2.5’s and resi’s were worth it over the 2.0 smooth bodies, then you should see the value in air bumps over poly.

2.0 emulsion would have probably been a better bet and easy to transfer over to a buggy with bypasses later. Only went with 2.5 because that’s what I have in the rear. I’ll add bumps if I see the need. I may be on them more than I think with less uptravel than LT had. Superbumps were great even with LT.

The internet told me that air bumps are loud and annoying when they make contact.

This is the only reason I ordered them. Was going to replace the bump pad with steel to make sure they make as much noise as possible.

They are weird at first, but not any more annoying than mud tires at speeds above 40, squeaking bushings, the crawl box whineing in low, or a rock stuck in your brake caliper.

It does weird me out after I don't drive a truck for a while and I feel them hit the pad backing off the curb at the end of my driveway
