Lookin’ good. Side note- do you use tow/haul mode on your f150? I have a 2017 too and the downshift is fucking intense.

also what’re you doing for a crossmember?

Tow/haul just makes mine hold gears longer before upshifting. But mine has 3.73’s and 35’s with the 6speed auto. It downshifts fairly often, and normally a gear lower than I would’ve expected, but it’s always smooth.

Current plan for the crossmember is to shoot some 2x3 box across under my eco-crawler, use 1.5” box to reach forwards and backwards to my trans and tcase, and integrate my lower link mounts into / onto the 2x3.

3.31, 33’s, V8 6 speed for me. I feel like mine engine brakes crazy quick unless I’m extremely conservative with the brakes. Thought about trying sport mode and seeing if it would be more graceful. They kinda do the same shit- hold gears longer, engine brake heavier. Don’t know, but it’s annoying being at 4k rpm just stopping at a red light.

are you going to make your crossmember removable?

Whether he knows it yet or not, he's absolutely going to make his crossmember removable.

That's a Ford Dana 60 king pin and sterling 10.25. I put some new seals in and did the disc brake conversion on the rear. Bearings seemed fine so I repacked the front and slapped the rears back in for now. 5.13 gears are also in good shape so left them alone. I'll build the axles more as I wheel it, just want to get them under the truck for now

Several companies sell single sided rams for hydro assist. It came with the axle so it's gonna work for me. Only thing with a single sided ram is that you'll get less force in one direction.

Yea, the engine braking is a bit excessive… but I understand why they do it. I don’t use tow haul in stop and go, just if I’m on the interstate.

Yes, the crossmember is going to be removable.

Might as well spill a list on what you want. Post went from a "wtb SAS rig" to "def no RST or C-SLAYER crawler"

As much as I hate RST in general, I rather buy a rig built by RST vs a trail broken gear truck or wfo radius arm truck. :D

    :annoyed:

The basics - ideally a 2001-2015 Taco, 3-linked front on tons, leafsprung rear w/ 63s is fine. Non-raisin, clean-ish. Doesn't need to have an Atlas or any forced induction under the hood. Yet.

Let me add: something that can get to the trailhead on it's own if need be. Should have most of the sheet metal / body panels / bedsides existing to look great at the local mall. LOL.

I've been calling around getting quotes for a 5VZ to 2UZ swap. Unfortunately, that level of wrenching is beyond my expertise, so yea - it's pretty expensive.
