Hi all. I have a 2004 DC Prerunner that I’m building soon. I got a newer 14 bolt and a 2005+ Dana 60 front (I started cutting off the stock radius arm brackets so I won’t be able to use the wfo or 4wu kit for this axle, prolly just get some brackets and figure it out myself). Planning to run 40s or 42s.
I ordered a NWF ecocrawler to Toyota chain drive t case. I’m having second thoughts about the chain drive case, thinking NWF ecocrawler to NP205 might be a safer bet. What do you guys think? Also you guys prefer a 1350 driveshaft or stick with a Toyota 1310?

    appreciate the input.

Depends if you're going to play rock bouncer or crawler? 205 is definitely stronger. Same with driveshafts, OEM Toyota joints are dumb strong, 1310's in a flanged yoke are pretty strong as well, 1350's with straps or shitty u-bolts aren't going to hold up as well as a flanged 1310 or Toyota.

Rock crawling. Rubicon/fordyce mostly. I just don’t want to have to worry about shit breaking.

Then do a 203/205 doubler and 1410's then if breaking is your main concern.

205 gives you front dig also. I would stick with the eco crawler as the front case because the packaging is so good.

Finally out of the garage. Took it for a short trip in the woods and walked shit I used to struggle with on 37’s. Sitting a couple inches too tall and some other piddly things left to wrap up, but so glad it drives lol

I'm trying to figure out the steering shaft and firewall plate on my SAS (99 4Runner). I know Trail-Gear makes a kit but I've read about the u-joints being sloppy, I've also heard of the hole in the firewall plate not lining up properly. Are these still issues? Any better alternatives out there?

Source a steering shaft and correctly sized joints from Borgeson (got mine through summit), and modify your existing firewall plate, or make an entire new one (making new one is far easier imo).

Don’t know of alternatives, but just installed one on my 00 4runner and everything lined up. I haven’t driven it but it feels solid.

You got both the firewall plate and shaft from Trail-Gear? I just watched this video on it, it seems the firewall issue is that it doesn't seal well at all around the smaller shaft. Did you have that issue?

Get the borgenson shafts like @allenfab said. The trail gear joints are some odd size that you cant get replacements for from what I remember. Also do not get the FROR firewall plate, pile of garbage. I wish I would have gotten the trail gear plate, at least that would have fit. Right now my "plate" is made out of rubber flaps and foil tape.

TG firewall plate is pretty decent, little bit of rtv around the outer edges help. Not the best shaft seal, for mine I used one of those step size electrical firewall boots and slid all they way up into the seal from the engine side to help seal better.
Borgeson joints all the way, my TG ones lasted about 2yrs. New joints are a lot better and a tack weld on each u joint cap helps keep it that way.

*Also, one side each of the steering joints, drill and tap a hole in vs relying on just pressure and a nut for the allen threaded screws.
