Helping a buddy out on his truck, so much more room on these 4cyl 3rd gen tacomas than the v6.
Definitely doing a single cab 4cyl on tons for my next build and keeping my current lt 3rd gen as the prerunner/camping rig.
05+ sd axles, bj eliminators, 4 link front with bypasses shoved in there too. Got shock towers mocked in there this weekend.

I feel your pain. AC in my 87 4runner is on the short list after I get the engine rebuilt.

Driving through the entry trail at AOP I overheard some guys look at my rig and say "I bet he's still got AC in that thing" as if it was a burn towards me...
I'm like wtf.. I prefer not to be miserable but to each their own?

I'm the asshole who don't care what others think. My truck still have AC, a functioning horn, cruise control, and full size door and glass to keep the unwanted dust and trail debris out of the cab.

A few years back there was a couple of us wheeling 5th gens at windrock in like June. We passed a group of sxs’s pulled over in the shade and one guy yells something about us wheeling new 4runners or some shit and I just rolled down my window and said “it’s nice and chilly in here” and rolled it back up.

never understood the thought process of needing to be exposed to the mud and dirt and heat to be “really wheeling”

AC is a non negotiable for me. We go on long trips with friends without AC and have seen the toll it takes on you during a heat wave, we'll gladly not having wheeling be work and more fun.

Lol gotta love that!! Even more fun when it starts raining while it's 90* like it always does there and your windows fog up because it's so cold inside the cab, feels good!! It's also the reason why I have full doors, I took them off once ever for wheeling. If I wanted to be uncomfortable and get doused in mud and dirt all day, I'll just save myself the misery of building a Toyota rockcrawler and just get a jeep.

I’d feel validated if a group of sxs’s made fun of anything I was doing. I would welcome it and be glad.

I wouldn’t consider it a positive return on investment since an unmolested second gen would be worth more sans the sas parts cost, but I “made” approx 1.5 times what the parts cost. I was surprised to get what I asked and had two people lined up willing to pay it behind him if it fell through. May should have asked for more, but I’m satisfied. Kinda bittersweet. Had it since new.

Righto. If you're happy with the outcome that's all that counts. Congrats!
