EDIT: think I solved it. I found my fan for my personal truck which is a 1900 cfm fan. Swapped that on and drove it hard and never broke 207. I’ll tell the owner to move the trans cooler for improved cooling and if he wants it to run cooler maybe add a small pusher fan to the front

Looking for some electric fan info.

truck specs to give an idea. 3.4, a340 and 205 I think tcase with a doubler. 40 in tires aired up to 25psi. Griffith dual row radiator with shroud and 1000 cfm fan. Temps monitored on a scan gauge and mechanical stock gauge.

finally finished the swap and having cooling issues. I live at about 6300ft elevation at the base of a mt so all the roads are either up the grade or down the grade. Cruising down is fine or through one of the dirt parking lots and short stints going uphill on the road. The minute it’s a continual grade up the hill or I drop it down a gear to gain some speed, the temp starts climbing. Idling and putting around it sits 195-205. Going up hill I’ve seen as high as 225 ish and the mechanical needle starts creeping up. Once I stop though the temps stop climbing after a second and start to slowly go back down or if I turn around and coast down hill some they drop fast.

I’ve bled the cooling system several times and think I got all the air out. I’m guessing the fan isn’t big enough and I need a bigger cfm fan. The next biggest fan I can get that’s recommended for dirt and will fit the current shroud is 2000 cfm.

is that my next step or any ideas before we order the higher cfm fan? No room to go back to a mechanical fan either.

Finishing up my sas using 99-04 Superduty axles. Built my own 3 link and pretty much all my own brackets save for coilover buckets. Running 14" coilovers, currently 6" uptravel and 8" down. Needs a few more small things but got to test drive it today and flex it out. Still lots of travel left both up and down front and rear so it should be a weapon in the rocks.

Trying to work out how to get the speedo functioning though. I searched for the elusive red and yellow wire at the abs module with no avail. My truck is a 2009 trd offroad with the factory locker, and my abs module connector looks like it has different wires in it than I've seen in write ups. Has anyone else who had the factory e locker in an 09+ encountered this issue? Very specific I know but I figure this is the place to ask. Here's my build in the meantime PXL_20240610_003444061~2.jpg PXL_20240610_003357405~2.jpg

Those are different than what's in my truck as I have the hydraulic booster. I was able to get ahold of the drawings though, thanks to @Dm93

Picked up a 2012 back in November, it's set up to go fast in the dirt, but slow on the rocks is more my style. Hopefully picking up a Superduty D60 next week and will be ditching the JD Fab LT kit. The truck already has a Rock Jock D60 in the rear.

Thought I’d seen it on marketplace a while back. Pretty capable as is. I went from a similar build- jd/archive to tons. If you need any local help/advice/one off tools I’m in Coosa county so feel free to hit me up.

What are you guys running for front driveshafts? Looks like I'm going to need one that can flex at least 34° at the transfer case end. Got some pretty decent droop out of the 14" coilovers

I’m poor. Modified early Toyota double cardone joint.

Nice setup! I wasn't aware that Toyota used a double Cardon. I was considering modifying an f350 front driveshaft for the same reason.

Do you happen to know how many degrees a double Cardon Toyota setup will flex? Do double cardons simply flex twice as much as a single joint of the same size?

I used the WOD diy driveshafts. Had to grind down the tcase side flange so it wouldn’t bind at full droop. I don’t have any great pictures, but the white pen mark shows where I grinded

Never thought about measuring the degree.

I vaguely remember looking into a double cardon for the front and decided against because it would make the driveshaft angle even steeper since it has to go out further from the tcase before it goes down if that makes sense

Yes thats a good point, it would solve the issue at the t case but exaggerate the angle at the axle

What's the call when you've got a split pattern like this? Set it up so they're both off the same amount, or bias it so the drive is more centered?

Bias it so whatever side you’re running on going forward gets a better pattern. In my case, it was the coast side since I was setting up a low pinion for my front diff.

Alright, looking for some cooling help on this red truck.

22x19x3 aluminum Griffith radiator with 3000cfm puller fan and shroud. It’s probably mounted 6 inches off the front of the engine. Only the condenser and bumper tubes mounted in the front of it.

idling, stop and go, flat free way, small hills it runs fine and stays cool. Minute he hits a big grade and drives up the long hill, the temp starts climbing and keeps climbing. Hills long enough it’ll hit 230 on a scan gauge and needle is about 3/4 up. He pulls over and truck cools back to 200 within 5 minutes. It went back down to 215 within 2 minutes.

he’s drained and refilled the radiator, new thermostat with the jiggle valve down. The fans always on and none of the hoses look kinked or like they are collapsing.

any ideas to why it’s getting hot? He wants to go back to a mechanical fan as the internet claims they pull around 10k cfm and he didn’t overheat before but I don’t think there’s room. And I don’t think the mechanical fan is pulling 10k cfm as he didn’t have any kind of fan shroud before.

my thought was to try a 1500-2000 cfm pusher fan on the front of the radiator to see if that helps.

truck has 350k miles or more and he doesn’t know the last time the water pump has been changed. I’m wondering if it’s also a failing water pump.

    It idles around 185-190

    Any ideas?

How many amps does the fan pull?
