What’s the length from the reservoir to the pump? Is it more gravity fed? Any possible bend that can restrict flow?

It’s a straight shot. 3/8 return to a big cooler back to the resi. Stock feed hose no kinks

Do you know the size of the feeder? That might be the issue

    I don’t. I’d say around 5/8 or bigger

If it’s 5/8+ then I’ll retract my statement. 5/8 should supply sufficient fluid to the pump. Only thing I can think of is the factory pump output isn’t efficient enough for the steering box and ram. On my buddy’s 5vz setup with the factory pump and no ram and no cooler, the steering will be fine until it gets hot. After that, it’s manual steering. He added a cooler which provided some relief until it heats up on the trail and back to square one. He then upgraded to PSC pump and added a ram and had no issue since.

Get a higher flow pump. My old psc pump was only 2.8 gpm at 1500 psi. Couldn’t steer when aired down unless moving or rev the engine. Swapped to a radial dynamics 4gpm at 1500psi and works better than ever

It’s driving under its own power now, it’s been too long. Still a lot to do…

Dunno if this is the right spot to ask but eh. Recently finished the SAS on the truck, shoutout trailtoys. Tons with a stock t case mated to a shit gear 4.7:1. One of the t cases (I think it's the stock, sounds like a chain) sounds like a military bombardment at double digit speeds without resistance, or constant above 48mph. Fluid levels are fine, I used 75w-90. No metal on flush. Both t cases still work fine but the sound is going to drive me fucking insane. Old pirate 4x4 threads say its just because of how steep the driveshaft angles are, which mine are, but this noise is going to give me an aneurism. Anyone know a troubleshoot/fix or should I just try thicker oil and send it?

History on both case? Do the 4.7 case have new bearing or did you purchased the unit second hand?

picture of truck on flat ground and shaft angle?

Truck has about 70k so stock ones the same. 4.7 was installed a couple years ago with mayyyyyybe 5k miles on it. Truck spent most of the time after I threw the cases in broken, got it new

how high is high, what’s ride height? I don’t suspect that being the issue as I rode in people’s tall 4R & Taco (30+ inches @ ride height) without gear/chain whine. The gear case is louder than the chain but shouldn’t be that bad. You sure it’s not a carrier or pinion whine?

    Got a short clip?

I'll get some measurements and a clip in the morning. Not 100% sure its the t case but pretty sure it is, definitely sounds like a chain. Video clip will be scuffed since its at its worst at almost 50mph but i'll see what I can manage:)

    What kind of 4.7s?
What kind of crawlbox adapter plate?

Just have a question about 2nd gen Tacoma sas.

is there a reason why everyone goes to the ford d60 and not the chevy or dodge?

ford d60 is high pinion, left side pumpkin I get it. but is there a good reason not to use a Chevy or dodge d60 other than no one makes a sas kit to put into a 2nd gen?

    thanks ahead of time.

Oh God yeah. For instance most people are getting 05 and up for axles and Chevy don't have an 05 and up. The new dodge axle is driver drop high pinion but gearing down to 4.88 is the lowest you can go and it doesn't have hubs

In other news I have started collecting parts to 3 link the rear of my Tacoma and rear steer the 14 bolt

from my old truck 2nd gen 4 runner I have the 60 from a 1st gen dodge and a 14 bolt both geared up and locked.
do you think it would be worth it to run that 60 or would getting a ford one be the way to go. Not trying to do this on the cheep but at the same time If i can save by reusing the old stuff I have will it be worth it.
